I ask because I know in the pre-Dr. Gross Era the Spring game was always played the same day as a lacrosse game and it was a nice doubleheader. While it wouldn't give a huge attendance spike I am sure both programs could bring a few fans to make each other's event more fun.

Is there any reason why we stopped scheduling the doubleheader?

I believe TV is playing a large role at this point.

I'm pretty sure that stopped pre-Gross, but I may be wrong.

They can charge for lax now, they're on TV now, and it's a bigger deal now than before.

The ladies play at 10:30! ( my little one who is just getting started wants to go! ) I'm gonna be in the dome all damn day.

not sure why any of the reasons to not do a double header make any sense. the spring game is pretty controllable time wise so do that first, then give them an hour for the lax game to start. dont charge the $10 for lax like you usually do but make it something like $5, kids free, do we even get 5-6K for a spring game anymore? the goal is to build the football program back so use the Lax program if you need too.

I think you might get 10K with a double header the way Lax is playing now..

Made it worthwhile to make the 5-hour drive.

But having the spring game on Easter weekend does no good.

Agree. I would make a 9 plus hour drive for a double header even if I had to pay for one or both events but Easter is a no go.

Well it's not even a live game this year. It's just a glorified practice with some scrimmaging, and live game situations...oh and some kicking.

Yup, just poor scheduling. Poor marketing.

They've never learned how to make it an event.

I hope it's a fun day. I'm coming up to see my first spring game and am psyched. At least I'm pretty sure we'll win.

Actually no scoreboard/clock so it's going to be a tie, which i guess is better then losing.:noidea:

In general it sounds like we've had issues in the athletic department, which is going to change. We'll see by their actions how well the reconstituted ADept does their analysis.

If you want to get people to the Spring Game Scrimmage Glorified Practice, you have to give them free admission and parking.

Problem is, it's not really fair to LAX season ticket holders who are now being charged for a "free" event.

How is it normally handled?

They seemingly switch it up every year. 2 years ago was fine when they basically matched up sides evenly and ran about 90 plays while keeping regular score.

My guess is that if it was up to them, they wouldn't fo it at all.

All about managing expectations and slowplaying the roll out of this wizbang newfangled pop warner offense,

Easy solution give every LAX season ticket holder two free tickets to the 1-AA home game we play every year. I just think scheduling the spring game and men's lacrosse game for the same day should be accomplished as it could help create an environment and help with visiting recruits. I figure most LAX season ticket holders are FB as well, but giving them two additional tickets to the I-AA gets more bodies into the Dome to create future customers.

All I gotta say is that they better have some beer concessions open!

I bet that isn't the case. Everyone I know that is a lax STH, does not do football. At all.

they should just lower the price of this game and dont make it free.

There are no insurmountable obstacles to a FB / Lax doubleheader. If it could be pulled off with great success in the Jake Crouthamel era, it should certainly be doable in the Dr. Gross and post-Dr. Gross eras. If the football program needs more fans (and they do) this is an easy way to cultivate them.

First off, it is still a double header. It's just women's lax instead of men.

Secondly, it was explained to me that it's easier to schedule the Spring Game Easter weekend because most recruits will have off either the week before or the week after Easter. That way theoretically it's easier for travel.

That being said, I think Easter weekend sucks. It makes it much more difficult for me to get there from out of state knowing that I have to be back in NJ for Sunday.
