Can the coaches please fix the 3rd and long D

We are solid on first and second downs a lot but we give a ridiculous amount of 3rd and longs on defense. We can't we defend the first down markers and give up passes in front of the chains and stop 3rd down conversions?
I really don't get how the D consistently allows these conversions or always blitz the same gaps and defense adjusts. I just find we are too predictable and have a low margin for error.
I just hope we can improve the 3rd down and long defense it is very back breaking to allow these conversions and cost us field position yardage.

Third and long d = passing d. It's not down and distance , it's just being terrible against the pass

We need to pray for opposing meathead coaches because their secondary is as bad as it gets

From what I am able to gather, the D was on the field for a total of 76 plays, only 14 of them were 3rd down plays, and one of those was a FG. So, let's say 13 plays. Of those 13 3rd down plays, most of them weren't "3rd and long". USF did a great job of getting yards on 1st and 2nd down. As a matter of fact, the average number of first down yards gained was 9.7; yards gained on 2nd averaged 11.7.

Of the 76 plays, there were 37 first downs (not including that FG), and 23 second downs. To the right side on first down, there were 5 plays averaging 10 yards. To the left side on first down, there were 10 plays averaging 10.7 yards. Up the middle on first down there were 12 plays averaging 5.7 yards.
