The 1987 team was our most recent great football team, it went 11-0-1, finished ranked 4th in the nation after starting the season unranked. The 2003 SU basketball team also started out their National Championship season unranked. However, because of the playoff system for basketball those Orangemen were able to prove that they were the best in the ring of competition.
