So who do you think can make a slayton like leap in size and move to D tackle?

My top pick is Drew tuazama. 6-5 250 already. Plays with an edge.

Second would be cooper Dawson. 6-5 237. Already has the appropriate number to emulate slayton. Missed all of his senior year in high school w a knee injury.

Last would be rondi. He is 255 already so probably has the greatest potential to actually do this. This is kind of cheating though because he is already a d tackle

There are a number of guys that can play inside, but very few true run stuffing nose tackle candidates, but then again Kevin Mitchel played nose in the 3 - 4 and was fairly effective.

Yeah cause he was the quickest ng I have seen in a long time with Gregory right behind him.

Mitchel made it to the NFL didnt he for a short time?
He did. He switched to LB late in his career at SU (I think his senior year) when we needed help there and had just switched to the 4-3, and he ended up playing LB as a pro, I think for Washington.

I don't know who will grow into what. But, we need 1 techs that are huge or we will continue to struggle with the inside run game.

Need to start recruiting Hawaii for the monster DTs. They're bred there. Look at Pac-12 rosters. It's unreal.

Taj Harris. In fact, he should be listed as the 2nd string 1 tech on the way-too-early spring depth chart...just so he gets the message.

Hello and glad to be part of this board. Have followed for a few months and new seasons this year. Tuazama has the size and speed to be a stud DE in college and have a pro career. Not a fan of him changing positions I
Away from position of need the next few years and the position he was recruited for.we have made some kids train and develop away from their natural and recruited position the last few years and it's a shame by, in most cases it doesn't end great and the switch is done as a total team player with team depth issues.

The latest case in point would be Ruff , a promising lb. With size and speed who was moved to do, tackle in fact, thus 2 levels looking at size. At 6'1",235 he

Lol, as I was saying, ruff moved and worked to be 280-290ish and play tackle. Was serviceable and a team guy but DT is a position of need the last year or 2 and out lbs have been run over the last few years. We need to keep guys that have size in their natural positions. Go cuse!

There was no way though ruff could have played middle linebacker in a classic Tampa 2. We moved away from this over the years but when he was first moved Zaire was playing more of a classic T2 MLB responsible the that deep middle zone

Any OL guys who might move to DL?
Doubtful we are also thin at OL.
Also people have asked this question for a solid 8 years and I've never seen one move and stick at DL.

My understanding, and this is from Coach Edinger's (sp?) comments during his interview on Tyler Marona's podcast, is that the move to DT for Ruff wasn't planned it was just something they went with after his first year in S&C. His body dramatically responded to weight training and everyone just went with it. Putting on 70-80 pounds like that is never a given, not everyone can do it. I think we'll see the same thing with the D-line underclass right now. All of them are just going to hammer as hard as possible during this offseason. Tons of weights and tons of plates. The guys that respond by adding 30-40 pounds will end up inside. The guys who put on 10-15 will stay at DE.
