I have 6 yr old daughter and there’s no football at her school even if the thought popped in her head. Although she’s cycling/mountain biking and I don’t know that that’s necessarily safer. Like a lot of people on here it seems, I think I’d struggle to let my son play. I played up to HS and I’m not that big but was fast and athletic. I remember in 7th grade playing against kids that probably should have been on JV. I was a linebacker trying to tackle kids significantly bigger than me. Kids are even faster/stronger now but not all of them. This my feeling but just a feeling. I wonder if at HS level, the disparity between some of the kids with personal trainers who are just freak athletes too and the kids just doing it for fun, is so large that during games the collisions are far worse for the smaller/recreational players compared to years ago. Just a thought that’s been on my mind for awhile.
