It's a bottleneck at the top, as Syracuse claims the No. 1 spot in the Cascade/Maverik Media Poll for Week 3.

Three teams are receiving first-place votes: the Orange (15), No. 2 North Carolina (7), and No. 3 Notre Dame (2). All three teams are undefeated and have some claim for the top spot.

For Syracuse, it's a dominant 5-0 February with quality wins that culminated in a drubbing of Virginia on Sunday night. For North Carolina, it's topping previously-No. 1 Denver on national TV Friday night. For Notre Dame, it's a 3-0 start after starting the season No. 2 — although the lack of quality wins seemed to sway voters toward the other two teams...

USILA DI Coaches' Poll: Syracuse Sweeps Polls as No. 1

Syracuse is No. 1 in both major polls, taking the top spot in the USILA DI Coaches' Poll on Monday.

The poll is similar to the Cascade/Maverik Media Poll: The Orange are No. 1, North Carolina is at its heels earning first-place votes, Notre Dame at No. 3, with Denver and Duke rounding out the Top 5.

Army continues to stay in the coaches' poll Top 10, coming in at No. 9 for a second straight week. Princeton climbs to No. 11 from 18.

The biggest discrepancies between the polls are, Albany (12 in media, 16 in USILA), Harvard (16 in media, 12 in USILA) and Brown and Penn swapped at No. 20...

Nike/LM Rankings: Orange New No. 1 (LaxMag)

As soon as North Carolina's 12-10 win over previous No. 1 Denver became official on Friday, we knew there would be a new top team in the country come Monday. That team is Syracuse, which dispatched Virginia 15-9 in a game Sunday afternoon that wasn't as close as the final score indicated.

The Orange (4-0) just edged the 5-0 Tar Heels. Undefeated Notre Dame (3-0) remains third and faces now No. 4 Denver in a juicy matchup Saturday in Colorado.

The Nike/LM Top 20 will be updated each Monday throughout the season and is determined by the staff of Lacrosse Magazine...
