Cavs shopping Dion Waiters

Kyrie is the problem in cleveland.. I almost wonder if it was kyrie not thompson..

At the end of the day, Cleveland would be extremely foolish if they chose Waiters over Kyrie.

Eh. Dion got into fights with teammates at least once, maybe twice in HS. I was hopeful that it was just immaturity. Guess he hasn't grown up yet. This is not a good development for him. I don't want him anywhere near MCW, the whole team would change for the worse.

Love Dion's talent...never been a fan of him as a person, which compromises his significant skills. A dose of humility would do him a world of good...probably never going to happen and will cost him $.

Agree with this as well. MCW has a good thing going. Looks like he's really growing up. I'm afraid being paired with a guy from his past that happens to have attitude/maturity issues would drag him down.

I think Philly would be better for Dion with MCW and Noel and another lottery pick coming this year

Quite possibly 2 lottery picks.

full disclosure: I don't like Dion, never have. I realize I am judging from afar (way, way afar), but I feel like I recognize him, or his "type." I've known guys with his body language and apparent attitude; played with a guy like that.

He has a lot of talent and that will earn him 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances in basketball, but he burns too hot and he is going to burn bridge after bridge.

I think Syracuse really dodged a bullet while he was here. Luckily, we have a head coach who has a track record of getting a lot out of difficult players.

Well I cant say I know dion to be fair so im sure he id a large part of the problem. With that said I have a good friend who knows kyrie and his family and when I asked him about it he said there are issues there as well. He describes irving as a control freak and someone who refuses criticism at all costs and feels as though the best advice he gets is from himself. That type of attitude is not one I would care to play alongside anymore than a complainer with a temper like dion. Makes for a really poor mix. I say you really dont win with either if your the cavs vs saying one over the other.

Waiters is carrying the Cavs vs. the Heat tonight... Irving playing like a total scrub at the moment

The way Turner has been playing this year... That trade would be a steal for Cleveland. I also don't understand how anyone feels Dion would make a good PG... He has never had good passing instincts or shown ability to want to run an offense. He's always been all about scoring and that's why as a instant offense off the bench is his greatest strength for a team.

I disagree about his passing and his PG potential. More than capable passer and makes good passes in every game. I have watched most of the Cavs games since he arrived here. I do agree that scoring is his forte and that an instant offense role off the bench would work.

Fair enough on the point guard opinion. I think a change of scenery would be good for him.

Dion played well tonight. Definitely an nba player and not a bench guy. Wade was chatting him up good at the end. I think dion just needs to relax. He doesn't need to get a bad rep because he has it so good

Kyrie is a terrible point guard, like Wall they are both get mine first point guards, and give the scraps to the rest of the team. That mentality works in college, but not in the NBA. I would take Dion for Shumpert in a minute. Shumpert's defense is over- rated, especially when you can't score at all. Whenever he is on the floor, no-one has to guard him, Chandler comes back, and you have 2 people on the floor who can't score.

Dion is a very good kid. Just seems to have a little anger problem. I have heard some great personal stories about him.

This is exaggeration. Shumpert is scoring at a higher rate than Waiters in terms of points per possession and has been far better scoring in isolation than Waiters. And even if Shumpert's defense is overrated, I think we can all agree that he's still a far better defender at this point in time than Waiters is.

Then you factor in the fact that the Knicks would be trading their best perimeter defender for what's basically a shorter JR Smith (which they obviously already have in the real JR)... that trade just doesn't make sense.

ESPN coverage showed him talking to DWade after the game.

"Tell LeBron I'll marry his mom if he gets me on the Heat"

watched the Heat / Cavs game. Dion was fearless and the only offense the Cav's had for much of the game. The body language with his teammates, including Kyrie, looked normal (hand slaps, etc. after free throws / good plays).
So much talent, hope he figures out how to be a good teammate.

If this deal is true and the Knicks aren't making this trade (Shump for Waiters) then I'm officially at a loss for hope with the Knicks. It has to be more to it right? Cleveland can't be offering Waiters for Shump straight up, can they? For the sake of my Knicks fandom there has to be a draft pick they want in addition to Shump or something.

Knicks better hope that Broussard tweet doesn't gain traction because the entire Knicks messageboard was watching the Heat/Cavs and is at a loss for why this trade wasn't done the second it's reported Cleveland brought it up.

As a NYK fan, I do not want to see Dion in NY. Him and Melo would not be good for each other. Would turn into a shooting war IMO. I actually think he could do well in Philly, but why would the 76ers do that when they have an amazing future backcourt in Wroten and MCW. Chicago seems most likely.

Further, Irving is a punk. You can tell he gets anything he wants based on his horrific play at times, yet he still plays a ton.

You're right. The 21 year old, NBA all star in his second year- PG is terrible.

Right.

he is not a winner and is a ball hog. He is definitely overrated. Also see my post earlier. He has attitude issues of his own.
