The best thing would be if C C retires from baseball which is a legitimate possibility If the surgery is required it might be enough to put CC in the old-timers game and off the payroll. Hos contract isn't as bad as what Cashman gave AS-Hole but it does allow a trade and$ for a top of the line replacement like Lester orPrice in the off season or mid sea on trade and signing for the next 2 to 3 years. t least he Yankees have been fun to watch since the bats are a bit more productive.

I think the best thing would be for Sabathia to get healthy, learn to pitch with diminished stuff, and be a solid second or third guy in the rotation for the rest of his contract.

So what yourre saying is that he becomes an extremely high paid fill in pitcher. Sorry thats something an aspiring kid can do effectively with far less $ being spent unless the kid works his way up to being a high value player which is always the preferred result i.e. youth and talent.

Second and third men in the rotation are not "fill-in guys." The Yankees will likely give up a lot to acquire one this summer.

What ever happened to waiting to see how someone recovers from potential surgery and rehabilitation?

The opinion seems to be that of many professionals that can speak to the kind of surgery that CC might be facing. They are extremelynegative about the ability of a player playing well again.

I'm presuming that Nova returns at some point and is servile as a major league pitch fully realizing that is a huge undertaking and chances are not good There are pitcher in the farm system that will get big looks in the spring Severino is one of them and Clarkin as well.Whether Cashman can get a top rated pitcher without giving up too much is the real question and worry. Roster trade bait is a curious possibility. While Cervelli is a valuable player behind MCann I can see him being involved in trade talks.

Where do you come up with this ? First off Severino is in A ball for .ucks sake, he is just 20 years old and has not gone over 100 innings yet in any year in the minors. Let the kid grow, on top of that many scouts think he is better suited for the bullpen with his delivery. Who the hell is going to give up a top rated pitcher, to not get much back in return? CC has 2 years and close to $50 mill left on his contract after this year, who is going to trade for that when you said he is fill in pitcher. I swear..sometimes..

Sure Severino is young but he is showing the scouts a lot at this time. He will mellow s long as the Yankees want him to. But he will be invited to the spring camp a long with Clarkin. If either shows enough they will go north. It won't be the first time that very young players get into the majors at their age. The probability of CC's return isn't my thinking . Its by the many professional in various sports that have offered this opinion or observation. If the Yankees can throw in 40 year olds on the mound they can go the other extreme and give a young kid the chance at being a phone nom. I haven't seen anything that suggests that Severino is better suited for the bullpen. This year's number one drafted by the Yankees is a specialist in that regard. In any event Cashman will need to weigh his options for the next year as well as this one.

You're delusional if you think either pitcher is going anywhere near the majors next year.
