[QUOTE="OttoinGrotto, post: 4423672, member: 297"] Are people really slamming Shrader though? I'm not. The guy has obvious skills and has made a huge leap this season. It's just we've also seen that his style of play takes a toll on him, and when his body breaks down and he has to rely exclusively on his arm, the offense stalls. He's good enough as a passer to hit on 67% of his passes, but he's not good enough as a passer o put up points if the threat of him running is gone. We've also seen that his results can be volatile - he can pitch a perfect game against Wagner, but he can also complete well under 50% of his passes in a game (Purdue, Notre Dame). None of the above observations are slams, or incorrect based on what we've seen over these two seasons. Shrader can get us really far. We can win with Shrader. We've seen it and we know it. But we also have seen there comes a point in the season where his effectiveness drops because he sacrifices his body a lot to move the ball. It's not unreasonable then to think that if in the offense we have a QB that can be even better as a passer, and therefore is less reliant on being a running threat, and therefore takes less of a beating, they have a better shot to stay healthy and get more consistent results. It looks to me like CD-RW has the potential to be that guy, and based on how different the offense looked in the first half vs in the second half, unless Shrader is a lot healthier in a short amount of time, we probably have a better chance of winning calling CD-RW's number for at least one game.
