That stinks for the fans and for attendance. The QFs should really be on campus. That at least cuts travel for half the fans. The Top 4 seeds do have the advantage of knowing where they are going well in advance. But they lose home field. The short turn around from QFs to SFs will be a pia for travel. You cannot plan too far ahead because you need to get there first. But these are all problems that we likely will never have to face.

I don't think there's anyway around it. Those 6 Bowls are huge in tradition, tv viewership and money.

Why do we have to incorporate the Bowls? They have no tradition anymore. Sell the neutral Semi locations and the NCG. Let the Bowls go back to the old way. Best non playoff B1G vs best P12 in the Rose. Best SEC vs best B12 in Sugar. Best ACC vs 2nd best B1G in Orange.

Heck I would even try to get the Semis both in one city. That would give it a Final Four feel. Since the games are on different days, it would work.

Does this mean four fewer bowl slots for 6-6 teams? If the number of bowls remains stable and teams that win the quarterfinals essentially play in two bowl games it appears to be the case.

Doesn’t matter. We’re going to be playing in the first round games with an extra home game starting in 2024!
