That stinks for the fans and for attendance. The QFs should really be on campus. That at least cuts travel for half the fans. The Top 4 seeds do have the advantage of knowing where they are going well in advance. But they lose home field. The short turn around from QFs to SFs will be a pia for travel. You cannot plan too far ahead because you need to get there first. But these are all problems that we likely will never have to face.
I don't think there's anyway around it. Those 6 Bowls are huge in tradition, tv viewership and money.
Does this mean four fewer bowl slots for 6-6 teams? If the number of bowls remains stable and teams that win the quarterfinals essentially play in two bowl games it appears to be the case.
