Depends which conference they played in. Winning the ACC would have impressed absolutely nobody this year given the weakness of that conference (not one team currently in the top 16). Probably same could be said for PAC-12. Don't think they are good enough to have won the B-12, B1G or SEC this year. This was also supposed to be a rebuilding year for ND as they were a consensus low teens ranked squad pre-season and their Vegas win total was pegged at nine. They played a fairly easy schedule and generally took care of business but with several close calls. Imo they don't belong in the top 4 even if they had beaten Cinci. Finishing in the top five at the end of the regular season though is nothing to sneeze at.LOL at Notre Dame going to miss the CFP because they aren’t playing in a conference championship
It’s too bad there isn’t a conference out there that the rest of their teams play in that would LOVE to have them in it for football….

ND can still make it. Will be a long shot but it can happen. They need Bama to lose to Auburn and UGA. Cincy to lose to ECU or Houston. Michigan to lose to Ohio State. That will get them the 4 seed.LOL at Notre Dame going to miss the CFP because they aren’t playing in a conference championship

It will be a shame IF Oklahoma State beats OU and Baylor and yet gets left out in favor of Cincinnati. Their resumes are not remotely comparable.
Yeah I doubt that would have gotten the job done just like a one loss Wake Forest wouldn't have been let in either. The ACC just didn't offer up quality wins this year. Notre Dame's problem this year isn't that they don't play in a power five conference but rather they're just not good enough to fit in the top four. There are at least 6-7 teams that are better than ND. Playing in the ACC wouldn't have solved that problem. If they won the ACC conference, even with 1 loss I wouldn’t be surprised if they bumped out Cincy. Don’t know that they would but also wouldn’t surprise me. But the committee doesn’t even have to make that decision.

Both things can be true - the ACC is a mediocre conference and Cinci is not that good. If I had to choose the top ten teams in the country I would struggle to have Cinci among them. They've played a very soft schedule and struggled with some teams that wouldn't come near the top 50.Might be true but I doubt Cincy goes undefeated in the ACC
