http://cuse.com/news/2015/3/7/WICE_0307151622.aspx Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey | 3/7/2015 6:14:00 PM | RIT Outlasts Syracuse in CHA Final Tigers top 'Cuse in longest game in program history RIT outlasted the Syracuse hockey team in double overtime to take a 2-1 win in the CHA Championship game, in the longest game in Syracuse history. Syracuse scored in the second period, but the Tigers rallied for a third period goal and scored 3:15 into the second overtime to take a 2-1 win. "We have nothing to hang our heads about," said head coach Paul Flanagan. "It was a fantastic college hockey game that I think at the end of regulation you thought it would be a great one to win and a tough one to lose and it could have gone either way. Unfortunately we came out on the other end of it, but we'll walk out of here with our heads held high." The Orange got on the board first in the second period. Emily Costales redirected a shot by Nicole Renault with 6:02 to go in the second period for the first score of the game. Stephanie Grossi was credited with the other Syracuse assist. After 'Cuse took a 1-0 lead into the third period, RIT answered quickly to even things up. Thirty-seconds into the third period, the Tigers struck with the equalizer. Lindsay Grigg scored on a rebound, with assists to Caitlin Wallace and Taylor Thurston. From there, the teams played over 42 minutes of scoreless hockey before the Tigers ended it in double overtime. In the second overtime, Carly Payerl capitalized on a loose puck and skated it across the circles and beat goaltender Jenn Gilligan in the top-right corner for the game-winning goal. Gilligan made 28 saves in the loss, including a number of saves on odd-man rushes to keep 'Cuse in it. The Orange put 45 shots on net and Ali Binnington turned away 44 of them. Senior forward Allie LaCombe and Renault were each named to the CHA All-Tournament team. Syracuse finished the season 11-15-10.
