CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW POTS

Pot 1
Real Madrid (Spain)
Barcelona (Spain)
Bayern Munich (Germany)
Chelsea (England)
Benfica (Portugal)
Atletico Madrid (Spain)
Arsenal (England)
FC Porto (Portugal)

Pot 2
Schalke (Germany)
Borussia Dortmund (Germany)
Juventus (Italy)
Paris Saint-Germain (France)
Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine)
FC Basel (Switzerland)
Zenit St Petersburg (Russia)
Man City (England)

Pot 3
Bayer Leverkusen (Germany)
Olympiakos (Greece)
CSKA Moscow (Russia)
Ajax (Netherlands)
Liverpool (England)
Sporting Lisbon (Portugal)
Galatasaray (Turkey)
Athletic Bilbao (Spain)

Pot 4
Anderlecht (Belgium)
AS Roma (Italy)
APOEL Nicosia (Cyprus)
BATE Borisov (Belarus)
Ludogorets Razgrad (Bulgaria)
NK Maribor (Slovenia)
Malmo (Sweden)
AS Monaco (France)

Whatever group that gets Monaco and Falcao will be a crazy tough group unless Monaco ends up with Benfica or Porto. Porto in Pot 1 is a bigger joke than Switzerland seeded at the World Cup.

FORWARD Shakhtar!!!!

FORWARD Shakhtar!!!!

The eyes of Ukraine are upon you!

Here we go Shakhtar...!

FORWARD!

Shakhtar is going to make some noise this year. Literally. Best ultras in Europe

Arsenal barely made it through qualifying today. Had they lost it wouldve been great for the german league moving one team to the top tier and another to the second from the third.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but to me, Champions League is the best annual competition of any sport in the world. Even the so-called lower ranked teams have lots of quality among them. Shaktar and Basel have both beaten Chelsea in recent years. Here's a look at the draw from the Chelsea point of view - who we've played before and who we could draw this time.

Also, is there any doubt that we are in the same group as Barca?

Barca ain't what they used to be. Real Madrid or Bayern Munich are the 2 best teams in the competition this year. Chelsea and Man City are right behind them.

Porto in pot 1 is such a joke I was talking with KOIII about the metrics used by UEFA. That group will be like in 2010 when everyone wanted to be grouped with South Africa I am predicting Man City ends up with Porto.

Porto would be a pretty good side if they hadn't sold off some players. Yes, Pot 1 may be pushing it, but their results have been very good these past few years.

Great group for Liverpool!

One marquee match up, and a very passable group as a whole.

Chelsea has it easy.

Arsenal has it hard.

Barcelona, PSG, Ajax . . . very intriguing.

Bayern and City is the top match up in the group stage . . . and Roma too!

Group E: Bayern Munich, Manchester City, CSKA, Roma
Group : Barcelona, PSG, Ajax, Apoel

Ouch for both of those groups

Don't sleep on Basel. Not even a little bit.

Galatasaray could knock Arsenal or Dortmund out

Chelsea did great. I knew we would get 1 German side in our group. and thankfully it wasn't Dortmund. Sporting Lisbon is a good side, and Maribor looked like a sturdy, well organized, tough tackling side in their qualifier against Celtic. Tough games, but Roma as the 4th side would have been rough.

Manchester City with a brutal draw again. If they get out of this group, they will have certainly earned it.

Liverpool can't be happy about getting Real Madrid, but Basel as their 2nd pot opponents is one of the easier ones, and Ludogorets are minnows.

Arsenal might not beat Dortmund to win their group, but Wenger has a magnificent record against German clubs in the Champions League. Galatasaray is a tough opponent, but Anderlecht should be easy pickings.

Lots of weak groups here - Group A, Group C and Group H - none of them are that impressive.

Group - Ajax are mostly a "name" but not that great a squad anymore. Mostly they are young players waiting to be sold. APOEL are not that good. Barca and PSG both advance.

Group E, on the other hand, wow, any of the remaining 3 teams could advance along with Bayern. City have about the worst possible draw, including the dreaded travel to Russia.

Basel is feisty. Look out.

Yup

Basel once more won the Swiss Super League title, for the fifth consecutive season. The club also reached the final of the Swiss Cup, losing out to FC Zurich.

In terms of the Champions League, last season Basel reached the Group Stage, where they faced Chelsea, Schalke 04, and Steau Bucharest.

The RotBlau were unfortunately edged out of their group and relegated to the Europa League, where they reached the Quarter Finals, losing out to Valencia, 5-3 on aggregate.

Yup! Ajax is no longer a threat at all.
