Chancellor Syverud comments on Dome's future...

I'm thinking she answered that with this post. Today is the new chancellors first day. I think the fact that he even answered this way tell where things are. I think there is something in the works, and I find it hard to believe that it floats without University involvement. I don't see two facilities in the city of Syracuse. But I think this may take a little time to form. The fact that this is spreading like wildfire, and no one has denied anything makes it pretty real. But so many decisions still to be made. Lets give Chancellor Syverud a day or two to adjust to his new position!!!

I guess if I have one question for CTO, it'd be to find out what way the board is leaning in terms of location. South Campus? Oil City?

I just want to make sure they don't go smaller for BBall. Sure a state of the art 25k place is nice. But part of our identity is HUGE bball crowds in the dome. If they could somehow do 44k plus for football and at least 40k with decent seats and sight lines for bball... I'd be all for it.

To me - this is one of those potentially nice to have things but not a necessity. I don't see a new building helping in recruiting (at least in basketball - perhaps in football) nor doing anything to help the local economy save during the building phase (with one main exception being for the possibility of concerts coming to Syracuse that bypass the city now). The Dome works just fine as it is. It's not perfect but the powers that be better be prepared to offer a compelling case if they use public money in any way.

All the non-denied rumors occurring within a day of the new chancellor coming on board. Coincidence? I think not.

Clearly, 'New Yorks Team' makes more sense now.

Guess I need to start budgeting for football season tickets at Giants Stadium and hoop season tickets at the Garden!!!

Give the academia their land back STAT, figure out the logistics of this for a decade and lets get it on!!
