Picking 29th, they weren't getting an elite pass rusher in the draft.  There really wasn't anything in the FA market that fit their D.  This is a great trade for the Cardinals.  We traded a bust G (Cooper) that we drafted a few years earlier out of UNC.  The kid appeared to have great upside out of college, but was injured his rookie season & never seemed to bounce back.  The Cardinals feel they are a legit SB contender THIS year, so they were willing to take the risk with Jones.  They will franchise him next year, so they'll get at least 2 years out of him.  The Cardinals are no longer a doormat in the NFL.  They have a great, young GM (Steve Keim) who's made some great deals already.  The Pats are DESPERATE at the O-line position & they don't have a 1st round pick this year.  With two 2nd round choices now,  they can trade into the 1st round pot snag another O-lineman if they'd like.  I think this is a good trade for both sides.
