Chandler jones - wow

Chandler Jones: TK 4, AST 2, SACK 4, FF 2
That would make some players year but our boy did it in one game today while Arizona beat up the Seahawks.

Some stats and info of interest: out of Union Endicott, H.S. N.Y. Star ratings Scout 2, Rivals 2 DE 6' 5", 235, 4.95 40. Now 6'5 3/8", 266, 40, 4.78//// At SU GP 32, 101 TS, 46 AST, T 147, TL 27, SK 10, INT 1, FF 3
Drafted #21 by Patriots 2012. Played with them through 2015 accruing some amazing stats.
Patriots traded him to Arizona in 2016 - signed 5 year extension with AZ 3/17 for $82.5 M
On track to set records again this year.

He has a strong chance to finish top 10 all time in career sacks... and an outside shot for the single season record this year.

Rams give up a bunch of sacks a game
Good chance with a lot of help he can do it next week

What's his contract deal?

Bills have a lot of room, would he want to come home?

For some pretty good nickel as well. I wanna say he signed for $55 million ish if I recall correctly.

2019 Cap Hits:
Chandler Jones: $16.5m

Kyle Van Noy, Jamie Collins, John Simon, Danny Shelton, Deatrich Wise, Jon Jones combined: $15.43m

That is why Jones got traded by NE.

Could he be a future Hall of Famer, or is he considered one dimensional? Granted, it’s a helluva dimension!

I don't see him slowing down for at least a couple seasons and then if he adds a couple seasons that are just good, but not unreal, to that, I don't see how he doesn't make it. He has truly been dominant at this position.

Trading away really good players (not just Jones, but WRs, OLs) has come back to bite the Pats on the butt this season.

Antonio Brown being a moron has come back to bite them in the butt.
If they didn’t waste 5 million on him they trade for Manny Sanders as he would have got under the cap.

Losing Andrews to IR killed the OL.
Trading good players hasn’t burned the Patriots.
The pick they got for trading Chandler Jones was used to draft Joe Thuney their best OL this year and Malcolm Mitchell who helped them win a SB 3 years ago.

Welker, Branch, LaFell, Amendola (they really need s WR to help Edelman now), Solder, etc. etc. ad nauseam.

It's crazy, for as much praise as JJ Watt gets, him and Chan have the same number of career sacks (96). JJ has been in the NFL for an extra season, too. I realize that JJ has dealt with some crippling injuries, but still.

JJ Watt - 112 games, 96 sacks, 372 tackles, 23 FF... 0.857 sacks/game, 3.32 tackles/game, 0.2 FF/game
Chan - 118 games, 96 sacks, 302 tackles, 27 FF... 0.813 sacks/game, 2.56 tackles/game, 0.23 FF/game

Chan is an elite NFL pass rusher, possibly even THE best right now.

Would be pretty awesome if he won DPOY this year. Certainly deserving.

Just thought I'd talk about a couple of things regarding :) this post.

There is and has been a great deal of discussion now and in the past about how we don't get the higher rated athletes and what to do about it.

I don't think there's anything you can do about it. Except to be sure you have the best recruiters out there and have repeat 10 win seasons. The rich seem to get richer or stay rich, the upper crust stays the same, the mid range stays the same. Everyone's recruiting the same kids. The best want to go to the best schools and most of the time that's what happens and what's going to happen.

And sometimes there is a player like Chandler Jones who had great size for his position in high school at DE 6'6”, 235, 4.95 40 and even though he was All Northeast and 8th best player in N.Y. He was still rated 2 stars of 5 by Scout and Rivals. The difference here is that he wanted it, worked like hell to develop himself his natural talent turned heads and propelled him to the NFL and he is now the best OLB pass rusher in the NFL and not going out too far on a limb I say he'll be, barring a career ending injury, an NFL HOFER.

So, sometimes star ratings don't mean anything and those that have them end up sitting or never play or don't believe in themselves enough to work hard and get to the top and some do. Those that do are rewarded in their performance and salary. Chandler is being compensated for his football acumen at an average of 16.5 M each year for 5 years. I read this somewhere:

Sports Truest Rule

It is not about the shoe,
nor the helmet, stick, bat, ball, club, glove, bike, racket, suit or uniform.
It is the desire within the human heart.
The unseen, unimaginable work that must be accomplished -
the uncompromising will to be the best
that makes the difference between the good athlete and the truly remarkable in sport.

I hope we get more 2 – 3 stars with the possibilities of C. JONES

Merry Christmas everyone. GOSU :)
