Was on the sideline for the Pitt game and couldn't help but notice the lack of juice and togetherness of the team. There has been plenty of talk on here about Marrone's flat demeanor and lack of emotion. This is college football and kids feed on emotion. I think Marrone is a good guy but this year was very eye opening watching his depressed pressers and negative vibe at times. This is college football and it is about working hard and having fun! Watch Strong at the Ville, Jones at Cincy, Fitzgerald at Northwestern...these guys instill gameday energy and juice into their sidelines! I believe Chandler started this season will intentions of returning in 2012 with the second half unraveling and apparent internal problems having a part in his change of heart. Most of all the business like, no fun and almost NFL approach by his coach. In the end, if you are not gonna have fun and have a college feel...then why not get paid for it!

Best of luck Chandler! Your smile and the way you represented this team will be missed !

The only true problems with the program are facilities and fan attendance. Outside that there are a few correctable issues.

Troll.

lol...some just see this program through the orange colored glasses. if you think this season was acceptable then you are just not paying attention. we all exptected a step back, ok 5-7. its the way it happened, not the fact it happened. there are problems with doug relating to 18-22 yo kids. you have read the previous posts, seen marrone's pressers, seen his lack of emotion and interaction on the sidelines. that may work in the pros, not in college. we need new faciities and our coach to adjust to coaching and motivating 18-22 year old kids. the fans will come with sustained winning and a coach that smiles again someday.

holy , we get it the team was divded when you lose 5 games that happens, we went from highest of highs beating (11 ranked wvu) to this 5 game streak..it happens...new year fresh start...

I pesonally don't thik that a coach should be responsible for a team'juice" on game day. That IMO should be more the responsibility of th eteam captains and the players themselves. When my wife and I were able to go to the games and sitting in section 301 we noticed that when the team was standing on the sidelines and kind of going up and down on their toes in anticipation it bode well for their "juice in the game. Flatfooted just standing around translated to their play on the field. The more life on the sideline the better the game and conversely. Zcheck it out for yourselves.couchburn

I prefer Doug's sideline demeanor to. some of the other coaches like the NJ monkey faced exhibition and Pitt's former coach,Wanny who was scowls and gesture loaded to clown levels. Of course this season was a letdown. Doug knows that more than anyone . You gotta know that Marrone and Gross had a post season discussion about that. The offense stunk and the defense slipped a bit. The two is a perfect formula for losing. Five games in a row to end the season without a bowl hurt everyone. Is Doug too much of a disciplinarian? Maybe he is But there is no information available as to the player limitations besides the general laws of the land like drug possession and grand theft.Does going to a strip club get a banishment? Maybe if in mixing it up with the wrong people is included Gambling and such. Certain bars are known to be trouble for damn sure and going there could be grounds . What reall is puzzling is that we really don'tknow. Investigative reporting has gone down the tubes on questions like this. Why shouldn't we know what the rules are that these kids must adhere to or face suspension? Are they too unreasonable for 1-20 year old kids to follow? I think its a valid question.

My theory:

We are a program that had to rebuild. To do that, Marrone had to play some true frosh.

Sounds like a bummer, but not big deal, right?

Well, I offer people's exhibit A. We have immature players (Keon Lynn, who I think has a world of talent and I want to saty engaged in the program) dealing with the ups and downs of a middling football program, all in their first semester of college. Sometimes, all that can break down a player.

I think for the sake of our program, now that our scholarship numbers appear to be above 80, we should redshirt all players.

Just my $0.02.

Grob (pardon the mention) was as upbeat as they come and he was the biggest cheerleader in the stadium during games. How did that work out?

Although I have never seen her and only seen comments from posters on the boards I believe that mosts posters on here would rather see a gameplan created by Marci. Bet she would have been a better gameday coach and if she compares to all the comments over the years, she would probably be a better recruiter too.

Yea, because if we bash anyone who posts negative comments, it's not true and we're actually playing for a national championship next week.

I post negative things too but I'm also not pretending to be a fan. Wake up.

My hopes are for C Jones to become a pro bowler, and make a big time donation to the football program
