Women's Field Hockey Charlotte De Vries named to USA Women's National Hockey5s Team

MUSCAT, Oman – Following her storied career, former Syracuse University field hockey standout Charlotte de Vries has been named to the United States Women's National Hockey5s Team for the upcoming World Cup. USA Field Hockey and Hockey5s head coach Rachel Dawson made the announcement Tuesday morning.

De Vries, who hails from Malvern, Pennsylvania, was among 10 athletes named to represent the United States in the inaugural FIH Hockey5s World Cup, hosted in Muscat, Oman from January 24-27. Over the summer, de Vries was a member of the US Hockey5s team that claimed gold at the Hockey5s PAC in Jamaica.

A four-time All-American, de Vries capped her collegiate career with 49 goals, 25 assists, and 123 career points, the third-most career points by Syracuse player in program history. Her 49 goals are the second-most tallies while her 25 assists stand as the 11th-most in program history. De Vries accounted for 20 game-winning goals, including the overtime game-winning strike against No. 7 Liberty in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament, advancing the Orange to the quarterfinals for a third-straight season.

De Vries has been a mainstay on the USWNT, playing with the international side since she was a member of the Under-17 team in 2015.

The United States begins Pool C play at the FIH Hockey5s World Cup on Wednesday, January 24, playing two games against Namibia and India at 3:10 a.m. EST and 10:40 a.m. EST, respectively. Pool play concludes on January 25 at 4:50 a.m. EST against Poland. Crossover rounds begin after the Poland match, with the title game slated for 11:20 a.m. on January 27.
