I'd be more than happy if we are able to compare Chewie next year to Brimah of UConn. They seem to have similar frames and similar games. Long, defense-first players. Both seem to run the floor pretty well. I hope Chewie has decent cardio. If he can get down the floor, he should be a good alley oop target.

Thoughts?

I'm always weary of highlight tapes, as they might show 1 or 2 great plays from a 32 minute game, but you can generally get a good idea of a player's athleticism and physical tools. Keep in mind this is from his HS senior year, two years ago. He looks good here, and hopefully he's gotten stronger and a little more nimble since then. Also hope that he's working on his post moves and getting in the habit of not putting the ball on the floor like DC2. He's tall and athletic enough to catch, turn, and lay-in or dunk. No need to dribble amongst 6'6 forwards.

Here's another video of him against actual good competition at the NBPA top 100 camp. I see some familiar faces on that court - Skal Labissiere, Justin Jackson.

EastCoast2 What do you think of the Brimah comparison?
Physically seems like a plausible comparison but I just haven't seen enough of Chukwu offensively. Brimah is pretty limited to catch and dunk/ rebound dunk and I hope Chukwu can have the ability to catch on the block and make a move at least a couple times a game (I know that's asking a lot out of a Syracuse big, smh).

My dream is for Chukwu to be like a sophomore Fab. That's probably shooting for the moon, as Fab was dominant, wasn't he BE DPOY. But if Chukwu can be 80% of Fab, we'll be so much better with DC getting better and not having to play Lydon in the middle.

I think that is a good good benchmark, and I can't see how he doesn't get there. He just looks the part, and at 7'2", he will be a huge improvement over this squad by just standing under the basket. He didn't get much run at PC, but he was behind a 7 foot Sr and still only a frosh, though I don't think I have ever seen it explained why he left if he stood to be the heir apparent. So only the unknowns give me pause, what kind of teammate and hard worker he is, how does he do if a shorter, wider body is banging him? Because physically, I think he is a huge upgrade for us, and if he has improved his skills in the year he sat out, I think we could see as good a year as sophomore Fab by the time he is done. I think Brimah level is a nice floor for his first year at 7 and 5, with him doubling that production over his 3 years of eligibility, plus the blocks giving the D some teeth have me excited for him.

I think he's going to similar to Brimah on offense. I think we'd sign up for some put backs and dunks and maybe 5-6ppg. I'm not hoping for much more than that.

I'm not sure if I'm qualified to make a Brimah comparison, but I'm excited to check the dude out. I still recall seeing that photo of him dwarfing the Mailman.

In honor of Tee, and maybe my next parody: Chuckwu, yo he aint got nuttin to prove ;)

He looks like Dikembe in that video. I'll take it.
