Greatly appreciated the orange pants and blue jerseys. The helmets? At least copper is orange-ish.
I can live with the trashy look now that they've brought back our true colors. Or maybe my expectations are now just lower.

What?? I thought our unis were awesome and fabulous! I particularly liked how the orange helmets glowed, as if they had gotten some spit polish in a nuclear reactor.

I much preferred yesterday's duds to last year's cruds but if you are going to have names and numbers, you need to be able to read them. From any distance, that was difficult at best.

Compared to some of the hideous uniforms I saw on TV yesterday, I'll take our uni's any day. I actually thought they looked great.

Orange pants and blue jersey looks good. I love the helmets. If they could clean up the number font/color they'd be pretty good. The numbers have to be white, or even a thin white outline around them would pop it.

Looking at the two pictures I posted, our orange now looks like more of a Tennessee or even a Texas orange than a Syracuse orange.

When I went to my first game in 1964 one of the things I most vividly remember is how orange the orange in our uniforms was.

You do realize the the one photo you posted could be color-corrected so that the orange looks as perfect or off as you'd like.

Friday's orange looked no where close to Tennessee's or Texas' orange.

On my TV - and in all the subsequent coverage I've seen online - it was the perfect SU orange, PANTONE 1665C.

It's just that in the photo you posted, the orange is off because the saturation levels are decreased and hue has been adjusted - a lot.

And that's the same reason why the numbers aren't visible. Exposure is WAY down in that image.

Agreed.

The RI look was an improvement.

But the Marrone era look is better.

Instead of alternating orange and blue 44 degree lines for the #s and names, they should try orange and white.

But one of the big problems is the font... 3, 5, 9 are all impossible to tell apart from the stands and now there's duplicate #s all over the field with offense and defense... I don't know who the hell anyone is. :)

Honestly, this small change would make a huge difference.

Rutgers looked like vomit yesterday, and Arizona State looked like a flamboyant show tune.

I'll take what we got over many.

Yep, it's really that simple. Just make the #s white. The orange numerals are practically impossible to read on TV.

I can live with the design if I could just simply read the damn numbers so I know who has the ball.

you guys will never live it up. The kids love them, some site voted them as top 5, and they still have some inspiration from prior duds with the orange pants now. Get over it. Lets talk more about our QB situation

College Football does seem to have become a "race to the ugly."

This "Emperor's New Clothes" phenomenon that has taken over the game - with administrators actually supporting really ugly uniforms to avoid being called out as "uncool" - is certainly remarkable.

I give credit to Alabama, Auburn, Texas, USC and a few more for refusing to bend to "fashion."

And, I remain dismayed that Syracuse University does not have enough confidence in our football heritage/product - to have fallen prey to the nonsense, while accepting the false notion that without it we lose recruiting battles.

Agree 100% across the board.

Love the helmets.

Deciphering the uniform numbers is still a problem - even live at the game. They have that Alice-Cooper-running-mascara look to them.

Which brings us back to the basic problem...Nike uniforms suck!

I have never replied to a uniform thread, but I cannot hold back. These unis are terrible. It honestly takes away a good facet of the fun for me as a fan. I feel like I am rooting for another university, or worse, another WLAF team.

The only way I can tell which player has the ball is to wait for the call from the announcer, which is often after the play is over. Sucks.

How can a home uniform not have any white in it? If I am Matt Park, I am filing an injunction.

The helmets are borderline embarrassing. Simply stated, Syracuse helmets have stripe down the middle, Always have, always should be. I prefer white, but if blue with white accents fits better, so be it.

I don't really dig the "S" on the sides of the helmet, but that really is not the issue.

I appreciate the good-old college-try on the gothic font, but it failed. It just did. Time to go back to some classic font.

Lastly, I am counting the minutes until we switch to Under Armour. Not because I like what UA does with Maryland (that's a joke), but because on the whole, they do a good enough job modernizing classic uniforms. Notre Dame and Auburn are good examples.

I was at the game in section 117 and could barely read the numbers and the names not at all.

Looks like they left the pants on the clothesline all summer long.

RI wore softball pants.
