Just randomly stumbled upon a Coach K interview on NBA channel wherein he was talking about early preparations for the 2016 Olympics and putting together the USA team for the next four years. A couple of interesting statements:

1) Plan has been to have two college coaches and two NBS coaches. I pick the college coach... and the guy I wanted is Jim Boeheim. The NBA picks the two NBA coaches.

2) Our major issue is getting the best big guys. We struggled in London because Chandler was our only true 5. Lebron, Durant and Carmelo played there in a pinch ... but we need some true big guys.

3) We're enthusiastic about the camp in Las Vegas next week where we will be taking a good look at some of the younger NBA guys (in an acknowledgement that some of the 2008 and 2012 Olympic players have gotten older and will need to be replaced). No specific names were mentioned.

He shouldn't have any problems with getting big men for the 2016 games. Unless Hibbert takes a nose dive and Anthony Davis never gets it.

I don't know how accurate it is, but this article says Roy's involvement with the Jamaican National Team will prevent him from ever being able to play for Team USA.

Y0u can take the player out of Georgetown but you can never take the Georgetown out of the player.

Fairly certain this is accurate because I remember the announcers talking about it during the nba playoffs.

The other interesting point that i heard is that he things coaches need to be active, sharp and in the line of fire every day to be prepared for the olympics. Things could always change, but I took that to mean 3 more years of JB.

I wonder if that's a comment on Pete Carill's involvement a few cycles back.

I think Dion Waiters has a shot for the 2014 World Cup of Basketball roster. He is a good FIBA player because he can slash and score.
The USA big men are where the competition will be decided. 2014 in Spain means the Gasols and Serge Ibaka will all be there. The USA bigs will probably come from Boog Cousins, Anthony Davis, Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond, Taj Gibson, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge and if Dwight Howard wanted in or the Jamaican Federation let Roy Hibbert go then they could be considered.
