Simple question. After the last 24 hours, I'm thinking it's a pretty sure bet.

What did I miss?

Social media meltdown by the Cool Kid. Says he wishes he never left Arkansas, other coaches are calling to tell him he got a raw deal. Buh-bye, buddy. Who would think that a spurned coach could become such a cancer? Can't trust him to recruit anybody from here on out.
Agreed on all counts. Were you on vacation? I think this has all been handled internally. It's practically old news at this point. As OrangePa said, McDonald seemed very involved on the sideline on Saturday. He's not getting fired midseason, but I doubt he's back here next year.
On Friday this might be a question, but McDonald showed great enthusiasm on the sideline Saturday. He's here until at least coach hiring season in December.

Agreed. I was at the game on Saturday. Putting the emotional outbursts earlier in the week aside, he acted very professionally on Saturday. And like you said, very enthusiastic. I would be floored if he left prior to season's end. And I still feel there is a place here for him if he wants it.
As the WRs coach I would love him and think he has the potential to be a great OC someday. It was evident on TV as well when you could catch glimpses of him. I actually hope he stays, learning to be an OC doesn't just happen quickly for most people. He still adds a lot of value to the staff and would hate to see him go at the end of the season.
There is no chance he stays beyond this year but he won't get fired. What does Shafer gain by doing that at this point? Ya know Shafer is going to have to hire assistants at some point if he stays on as head coach. If he treats McDonald like garbage good luck trying to recruit decent assistant coaches to come to Syracuse. Let McDonald coach the WR's the rest of the year and do a peaceful parting of the ways come December and be done with it.
Oh, I think him leaving at the end of the season is a given.
