Every March our teachers would roll in the tv and we would watch every BET & NCAAT game in class. They would shut it down for those 2 hours. When I was in HS they were annually #1 and playing in sold out games on Big Monday. Everyone was planning their week around what we were doing and whose house we were going to for the game that week if we weren’t able to go. My entire life… literally revolved around the Syracuse basketball schedule. I scheduled my wedding around the Syracuse football schedule… I am a die hard, folks. I went to a Syracuse basketball camp when I was 8 or 9 and took a picture with Gerry McNamara and I still have that picture on my wall in my office at my house. The first purchase I made when I got a big boy job was season tickets for Syracuse university’s football and basketball team. For the basketball games I went by myself most nights. I just wanted to be there. This year, I have gone to ONE game and I got the tickets free. I’m not sure I have watched 1 game from beginning to finish since Kansas in Vegas. Other than the 1 game I attended, I have been offered free tickets on 7 different occasions (I just counted lol) and said no everytime. I could never imagine telling myself that at any other point in my life. And now if they really go hire Hop at this point of where our program is at? I truly don’t know if I will ever come back. I don’t see myself watching any games next year. I know it’s not done, but I’m also not stupid and know how things go with this university and our awesome insiders. I’ve seen this slow burn play out before. Maybe at the end of the day the make the right choice. And I will get off my soap box and just wanted to vent for a minute. But I’m just sad and feeling truly hopeless about the state of this program. And double p.s. maybe they hire Hop and by some grace of god he magically turned into a really good head basketball coach and my pissing and moaning was for nothing… one can hope.
