[QUOTE="sufan59, post: 5710221, member: 8789"] You can argue the worst thing happened, but there remains one fact in this. Syracuse is messaging how they want to be filling up the dome 25,000 people atleast every night and competing for championships year after year. In a way, Hodgson is providing more evidence that an already big financial investment Syracuse is planning to do, deserves more investment on the front end before pen hits paper. Good thing for Syracuse is the Phil Martelli Jr buzz is starting to grow, fits the criteria Providence is looking for in a coach per there AD in a presser today (so does Hodgson) and Martelli may be seen ultimately as a better fit for Providence having worked his way up at Basketball first schools. Siena upsetting Duke would be a dramatic shift, but Siena winning the MAAC should be irrelevant here as long as you have a candidate like Hodgson or better on the table. GMAC should understand his positioning in this. GMAC is on the path to being 'THE' candidate down the line if it were to open again, if GMAC tells Cuse to kick rocks if that time down the line happens, then it sucks when GMAC really does have the resume and merit to get this job. Syracuse should've been preparing GMAC to take over for Boeheim the moment Hopkins left years ago, it's really not a mystery of who on the Boeheim staff had the highest ceiling as a Head Coach. But that didn't happen and now is not the time Syracuse should be prioritizing repaying GMAC for likely getting it wrong in 2023. IMO, unintentionally did GMAC favors in my opinion by not giving him the job in 2023 when Syracuse really had no idea what it was doing in this new era, GMAC is learning and he's working his way up and doing things in a more healthy way that will make him stronger when he gets to the big leagues. If Siena pulls off a miracle on Thursday, then Syracuse may have to pull a Seton Hall and hire their alum like when Shaheen rose up on one huge run in March. Nothing has changed, Hodgson who many here have been watching for over a year saying he is the real deal is showing that he is the real deal and may warrant more investment up front to get it done and have Syracuse in position to compete at the top of the league in the ACC in year 1 and hopefully in the top 25 nationally year 1.
