Instead of any of that, let's just hire a competent coach, the best one we can.  Preferably one who has already proven their offensive chops by having their program rate in the top 20 [and sometimes in the top 10] in a bunch of offensive advanced metrics.  Syracuse is NOT in a position where we can accommodate hiring a coach with some glaring limitation given the current state of affairs.

Also there are more options than just Hodgson and GMac.  So it isn't an either-or.
