Look at Doty, Gerry recruited him and Red said no, it would be a waste of a scholarship.
What a dumb ass decision that turned out to be.

Gerry gave an interview a year or so ago where he recounted how Doty was his first recruit for Siena. How he knew this was the kid who could tie it all together- incredible work ethic, leadership on the court, never surrender attitude and good basketball ability that would improve each year. He was right on all counts but Red didn’t trust his judgment. One of many reasons Gerry went out on his own.
