I've already stated this multiple times, so apologies for repeating myself. But this week has shifted me from a complete hell no to making another internal hire, to being uncertain about whether Mac and America can get the job done. I know that doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement, but it's a pretty significant shift for me. And there is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that he is a better Coach than Red.

The problem is, that is an incredibly low bar. And the same group think phenomena that happened last time when was hired. Seems to be taking root again. Now, I acknowledged above that. I think McNamara is a better coach than red will ever be, and he might have a much higher ceiling. But that's not a given, I'm not sure.

And I'm also not sure whether it's a risk or program can afford to take at this time.

So as long as the new athletic director recognizes that his his time at Sue is going to be defined by this basketball hire, and does appropriate due diligence, I'll be fine with the result. But if at the end of the day people are still talking about how Scrappy he is, how he bleeds, orange, etc. I think there's going to be a significant portion of the fan base that is not just going to be skeptical, but also very frustrated.
