Everyone including JW knew that Red was a stretch but it was impossible to go out of house with Jim leaving and it was impossible to hire anyone on staff other than Red. Simply put there wasnt any other choice. This time was different. New Ad new opportunity. Gmac having a great season which he had in spite of injuries and of course the duke game made it very hard to argue against him. Coupled with the support he has for NIL put him over the top. He loves SU loves the area and will get the kids to play extremely hard. Gmac puts the work in and i think he understands talent, roster building, and most importantly has the IT factor which is great feel for the flow of a game.
