Some interesting names popping up high on the list.

Kirk Ferentz - Iowa $3.9 million
Dama Holgerson - West Va $2.4 million
Terry Bowden - Akron $.4 million
Skip Holtz - La Tech $1.1 million
Ron Turner - Fl Intl $.7 million
Randy Edsall - Maryland $1.65 million
Mark Stoops - Kentucky $2.0 million
Mike London - Virginia $2.6 million
Mack Brown - Texas $5.4 million

The coaching carousel looks like it will take a big spin this year.
I don't think Mack Brown will get fired but the rest look possible.

and if you go to the coaching salaries pasqualoni makes 400,000 more than shafer and more than double of that rutgirls guy

Well it is true...

Ferentz will probably land in the NFL. Edsall should be fine until Maryland clears up their financial mess and in his defense, they've been killed with injuries the last two years. Stoops has a good class of verbals so he probably gets more time...the rest of that list, meh.

Good thoughts.

Isn't this Holtz's 1st year? Wasn't he at USF last year? If so - it sure didn't take them long to want him out of Louisiana Tech too

People on this forum already know the realities of college football's arms race...but still, we live in a world where the Louisiana Tech ball coach makes $1.1 million.

Money to compete is real.

Stoops is in his first year and has a good class set up for next year. Kentucky football has been a joke for years. If they get rid of him they are crazy.

That looks a lot like Gross' candidate list after he fired G-Rob

Edsall then Holtz.

Mike London kills it recruiting. Can't convert the talent on field though it appears. Living in Richmond there are a lot of Virginia fans here and they all speak very highly of him due to his success at U of Richmond.

And a lot of us are still P.O.'ed at the way he was hired - no one else was even interviewed.

They are going to rename it the Skip Holtz Memorial Coaches Hot Seat Rankings.

Guy changes schools still ends up top 5.

Terry Bowden 400k at Akron and on the hot seat? Obviously Akron's no world beater, but he inherited a team that was 2-22 in its two prior campaigns, went 1-11 and is now 2-6. Obviously not great progress but are they really willing to cut the cord this quickly on a guy with a somewhat marketable name? Just surprised to see that name pop up.

Don't follow UVA that closely but it has all been pretty much down hill for London since that Thursday night win versus Miami? Yes/No?

Wasn't Golden still at Temple when they hired London? They didn't interview him, strange.

London seemed like a great hire when they hired him, what can you do, there are so few really great coaches out there

Not only was Golden (who had been our DC) still at Temple, Tommy Tuberville was unemployed, having been forced out at Aubarn at the end of the previous season. It seemed like the second Richmond lost their NCAA semifinal, our AD jumped in a car with his checkbook.

We lost to VPI (as usual) and to Aubarn in the bowl game to finish 2011. The Aubarn fans were totally shocked by how well they played against us in the Chicken Bowl. They said if Chizik could have made them play that well all year they would have been more of a challenge for Bama and LSU. So, our fans were pretty optimistic last year after that great season. We finished 4-8 and lost 4 of those games by 7 or less. Disappointing, but semi-palatable. He lost the benefit of the doubt when we started making the same mistakes this year that we saw in the past.

I do know that at one time Edsall really wanted the head coaching job here at SU. If Shaffer doesn't work out and Edsall doesn't work our around the same time, I could see Edsall having a good shot at coming back to SU as HC (depends upon who the AD is at the time too). He recruited well in the NE while at UConn (finding those diamonds in the ruff) unlike our current coaching staff it seems to be able to do so far.

I know some may not like this, but since he played and coached here at SU and now has HC experience I would give him a shot. He did take UConn from a nobody and got them to a BSC bowl game. I just didn't like how he left UConn is all.

Stoops most definately has a honeymoon year at UK

Put me in the group that says " no" to Edsall ever being our HC. Ever.

Kirk Ferentz is a UConn alum, and has been riding the coattails of his 2004-2006 seasons to keep his job. Iowa has been pretty irrelevant since 2007 I could see him getting popped and being the next UConn coach.

Maryland is broke and if Edsall gets them to a bowl he won't get fired. Skip Holtz is in his first year after last year's team losing a lot of talent he won't get popped at La. Tech unless he is a complete clown over there.

UVA's London is interesting he can recruit and has two of the top 10 recruits committed to UVA, and if they don't make a bowl would be an interesting watch. If the fanbase would be okay with losing those 2 top 10 recruits then he could get popped. Holgerson is an idiot and rode Stewart's recruits in Geno Smith and Tavon Austin and if WVU was smart they would pull the plug now before them become a permanent mediocre Big XII program.

Bowden and Turner are not worth commenting on as they are low D-1A schools.

Stoops is in his first year at Kentucky and had a top 30 recruiting class last year. He isn't going to get popped after 1 year. Stoops is killing it recruiting in Ohio.

I think Mack Brown's beatdown of Oklahoma gave him a little bit of break, but he won't be fired he will either be forced to retire or will continue 1 more year.

Charlie Weis and Norm Chow should never ever be HC's. They are just down right horrid.

They were best as OC's in their day. Weis probably would still be okay depending on the team, however Chow hasn't been impressive in recent stints. I still remember when people wanted him to be our HC..smh

Ok why not? He is an alum and played football and coached here at SU and coached under Coughlin at BC and at the Jags and we know what he did at UConn brining them from a 1-AA to a 1-A ending up at a BCS bowl - he has strong high school connections here in the NE, NY, NJ and PA areas and now the Maryland/Virginia/DC corridor while at U Maryland.

Timing is everything and never say never. He was here before my time so what do you know that I don't?

All of that is fine and dandy (he took UConn to a BCS bowl out of the watered down BE). I do not think he is a good HC, and I think he is a scumbag.

There, I'm not holding anything back.

There must be something seriously wrong with him for no one to hire him for so long. Something gross and unspeakable. We know the coaching fraternity keeps secrets. What's his?
