First off, I love Hopkins, GMac and Autry to death. However, I really think we have too many former guards as coaches. Our lack of development from our big men since the Fine scandal has been frustrating. We have two McD AA Centers and they have hardly improved on offense since they arrived on campus (DC2 injury aside).

If any of the assistants move on this year I really hope they make a move to bring in a solid big man coach. I had always hoped that we'd try to get Herm Harried on staff but I'll take any big man specialist regardless of ties to SU.

Can't blame it all on coaching. I never really saw the appeal of Coleman in high school. Can't imagine what would have happened if he went to Kentucky.

What exactly were Fine's credentials for being a big man coach and why were they any better than who we have now? I don't believe Fine was ever a college center (was he even 6 ft tall?), so why was he so much more qualified? The idea that coaching 4's and 5's is so much different than other players is confusing. This isn't football. It's not like we have a former defensive lineman trying to coach quarterbacks. Christmas was considered very raw coming out of high school and has actually made some solid progress on offense this year. We have no idea where Coleman might be.

Hire Patrick Ewing as a big man coach. I'd say Siekaly but you'll never get him and Blue Lou outta them high payin gigs.

After watching Requium of the Big East, it reminded me again why I hated the Hoyas. They were thugs. As Pearl said: they were dirty. I know it was a joke but the thought of any one of those Hoyas on the SU bench would be unthinkable.

coaches with connections to the AAU circuit are more important than specific skills coaches. Not rocket science to teach a few basic low post moves.

I don't know how much you can put on the coaches, but rak has been a huge disappointment, I think you have to put some of the blame on the players.

Rak was overrated coming in and has improved every year. The biggest problem this year was the perception born by snotty nosed Duke fans and announcers who saw the block as a foul. He stopped getting the "good defender calls" and fit the "prone to foul calls".

Rak was a very overrated high school player. Remember watching him in high school and thinking, well, he's tall and athletic.

Then I thought; project.

Mickey D AAs shouldn't be projects.
