Had Dino won 2 of our last three games he would have been in strong consideration for some jobs that we would have a hard time retaining him from leaving. Now even with a miracle finish i just dont see him being offered. So with that said i hope all of the following schools make changes this year.
Tennessee
UCLA
Texas A&M
Nebraska
Oregon
Oregon state
California
ASU
Utah
Florida: Already decided

Each of these schools have the resources and i believe would be competitive for Dino.
Tennessee, A&M,UCLA,CAL,and Oregon are the schools i hope make a change most of all. If these schools change this year it will greatly benefit our chances of keeping Dino long term.
In spite of our record and yesterdays poor showing i still hope that Wildhack extends Dino in the off season. He should be in a position of strength and it is obvious that Dino has made significant strides and is the long term solution for our program.
To me and it is counterintuitive but Dinos star dimming a little towards the end of this year may end up to be a blessing.

Every year he stays here is another year older he gets as well.

I agree that, long term, fading towards the end of the season is a blessing in disguise.

He's bringing in legit talent and his system can help us at least be in the conversation as a dark horse for an ACC Championship here and there. I truly believe that, as frustrating as his Year 1 and 2 have been.

I like and agree with your premise. Oregon and Cal are not going to open this cycle as they both opened last year. And moving forward, Cal football is in a financial crisis. They won't be outbidding other schools for HC talent any time soon. I'd be shocked if Utah made a change, and I think that Arkansas is a school to add to the list.

Good call on Arkansas. I really think that this is the crucial year. He has had a pattern of 2 and gone and if he had finished strong would have been poached. Now if some of these "good Dino fit" schools make changes this year i think he stays for a minimum of 2 more years which should put us on solid ground.

Starting this thread after his team was lit up for 64 and he's replacing QBs on 4th and 9, maybe isn't the best-timed post. This was a game we needed to win and he really failed to deliver.

I like Dino. Hope he stays and realizes what he can build here. But the deitization of the man is a bit premature.

I dont agree. This team has played very well against great teams all year. Sure there have been coaching mistakes but Dino has made Syracuse relevant again. I think the progress has been exceptional and that our future is in good hands. If he were to leave this year it would be disastrous.

Maybe Clawson will get poached, and Wake will go back to being, well, Wake.

Yep and there is a lot of money out there for a good coach...set em up for life, Coach Clawson your family will thank you!

I am pro-Dino. He has changed the culture of the program.

For as good as we seem to be, we also really shouldn't be 4-6. I do think year three is poised to be awesome; I just wasn't waking up this AM thinking "oh goodness, I hope we don't lose Dino."

I'm not even remotely scared of either Cal, Utah, or Oregon State. I'm not scared of Tennessee, Florida, and Nebraska, but for different reasons. I'm not terribly scared of ASU, either.

But UCLA could be a problem, and Texas A&M would be a huge problem, but it won't materialize.

The local Syracuse media and fans who drove the Dino leaving narrative a couple weeks ago are fools

The looking at losses in a vacuum is probably "dimming" perceptions nationally to the casual fan, the talking heads at ESPN, and some on this board.

However, the people who make the multi-million dollar decisions at the power schools are more likely to look at what Dino's offense can do with the lack of talent at SU, and his ability to start to turn around a morbid bound program in year 2. The only thing dimming at this time is his leverage to negotiate a mega contract should he leave, IMO.

To be clear, I have no idea who might have him on their list, or if he is on anyone's list at all. But, IF he was a candidate a few weeks ago, not much has really changed from that perspective.

Try being an AD whose job is dependent on how good the football hire is justifying hiring a guy with a losing record in P5 and potentially bak-to-back losing seasons. Doesn't matter who it is.

That's tough.

When we go 9-3 in the regular season next year and the buyout drops, then worry.

Dino Babers once told Texas A&M to ‘keep the check’

The other interesting tidbit was about how he left Texas A&M. After being demoted from offensive coordinator a few games into the 2002 season, he coached quarterbacks and found plenty of success. But when it came time for the bowl game, he was not interested in Boise State’s blue turf... at all.

“... They said we still have a bowl game, I said, listen, I’ve been really good about this. I’m going to look for a new job. They said if you look for a new job you’re not going to get your bowl check. I knew what I wanted to say, but I just said you guys keep the bowl check. I never played or coached on blue turf before and I’m not going to now. That got out, the team decided to decline the bowl game. And I want off to Pitt.”

I guess we can rule out Boise State then.

i sorta disagree, i believe he is still a strong contender for some of the positions

I dont think so. Unless he has a tie to the AD i truly doubt a coach from Syracuse with a losing record is going to get the job from an AD who could get canned for that much of a stretch hire.

Devil's advocate:
Didn't Doug Marrone essentially do just that, except at a higher level? (Exactly a .500 record)

Just forget about this for now. Can w shave a bowl game before worrying who's going to snag our coach lol

Syracuse was a Division II Team when Marrone took over. His last year was 8-5 with a dominaint Bowl performance. He was then hired by someone on one of Syracuse’s school boards.

In other words, context matters. Dino gets the benefit of that too. And anyone who does kick the tires will discover after 5 minutes of research that the performance (on and off the field) of the program under Dino is strong, as is the platform or his potential candidacy. He's an attractive candidate in a sport that -- at the moment -- does not have dozens or ready-made (or obvious) head coaches in waiting.

Deitization? No. Big picture - are we headed in the right direction? YES. Did Dino deliver the biggest win in the Dome since coach Mac? YES.

He's the guy.
