Pretty easy to look ahead with this one, especially with Notre Dame next weekend. But Colgate has won four straight (BU, Navy, Lafayette and Lehigh). They've also put up some big numbers against good teams this year (14 in losses to Penn State and UVA to start the year). They do have some puzzling loses as well, to Bucknell and Holy Cross, so they are a team that contains multitudes. With their unique style of play (up tempo, 10 man ride), the Raiders can create headaches for unprepared teams. Their three top attackmen are the centerpiece of the offense, they've accounted for 57% of Colgate's offense. Hunter Drouin has been their forever, I imagine Figuerias draws that matchup while Dwan draws Quinson. The Raiders offense isn't very big, I don't think anyone stands above 6 foot. Hopefully this is an instance the Orange can outmuscle their opponent. Colgate isn't above 50% at the face-off X, so hopefully this is a game where Mullen can build his confidence a bit. Have to say that is perhaps my biggest concern heading into the tournament, which I did not expect at the start of the season. Their starting goalie is at 53% for the year in terms of save percentage, so the Orange will have to shoot well this game. The Orange are coming off a big win over UVA, but still showed they have things to work on. Throwing the ball to a player across the midline for an easy over and back call while not under any pressure whatsoever, still errant passes that sail over the head of the intended target. Getting late in the year for plays like that. Hopefully that ends this weekend. Wonder if Mike Powell will be in attendance for this game in case Spallina breaks the record? Would be a nice touch, especially since it's senior day in the Dome.
