Early entries are not a new phenomenon.   It rose heavily around 2001, and the number of early entries has actually held fairly steady since then I beleive.   SU has just been bit a little more in recent years.

So a full cycle of "early entrants" was completed by 2006.     I am sure that the level of play in college was worse in 2006 than 2000.   So certainly early entrants have hurt the product -- no doubt.    But the people out of the NCAA in 2006 is really no different than 2015.  And I think many think 2015 is worse than 2006.    So what other large factor is at play.

I say the biggest problem is defensive system coaches... and moreso those who play stall ball.    Coaches want too much control now.  Its hard to control your offence, hard to control the opponent's defence... but one thing you can control and focus your practice time is on your defence.
