Something just doesn't look right with these numbers.

They are clearly factoring coach's pay and arena value into their equation. Louisville is overpaying Pitino out the $#% and just moved into a sparkly new bball arena.

Must be arena value... of course UL just dropped how many million on that?

...well lets question based on 'Cuse being #13...what of the Melo Center...what of the fact of tickets sold for games...'Cuse has to be higher than #13...

I'd like to see the full breakdown of those numbers. He talks about cash flows, etc. Doesn't make sense.

it's called reporting, you would think a syracuse fan would understand this concept..

The WSJ only reported what a finance professor came up with. They didn't add anything to it.

This might be more right than you think. Take SU and Lville for example. The Dome costs a lot of $$$ to keep open and run any event and it all comes out of the revenue. The Yum Center has a lot mor events than the Dome and I bet while Lville gets a lot of the revenue someone else is paying the electric bill. That finance study is about value based on how good a program is but only an assessment of the revenue stream, costs and value of the structures themselves (I'm sure a few other things too).

Is LVille bball really 2.5x more valuable than SU bball?

Lots of little kids like that Angry Birds game. They probably sell a lot of shirts.

you should tell that to bevosu..he is the one implying that the WSJ is not trustworthy.

the melo center and the dome combined to cost ~$46 million to build.

And they may only take 1/2 of the domes value since it is used for football too.

in dollars and cents it seems to be.

Dome's book value is probably close to zero, assuming a 40 year depreciation schedule.

Not just any finance professor though. He's from the campus of IUPUC. That is the branch campus of Indiana University/ Purdue University at Columbus. That is Columbus, Indiana. Enrollment 1,700 combined undergrad/grad. I do not beleive they have any athletic programs. They leave that to their big brothers at IUPUI and IUPUFW. ;)

Bulletin!!! You can't believe everything you read in any newspaper. The WSJ is not exempt.

They did a wonderful job anticipating the financial crisis and the mortgage meltdown...not

They don't exactly have a great track record reporting on the shenanigans happening in (of all places)...Wall Street. Lord knows there's lots of potential material there.

They're shills who occasionally do decent reporting.

That list is revenue only. Big difference.
