"President John . Kennedy and Christopher Columbus were his second and third choices, he added."

I mean, at least one of the people in his top 3 didn't commit genocide.

I'd probably want a little more context before condemning the guy. Maybe he's not good enough with words to quite convey what he was aiming toward. (Or maybe it's every bit as bad as it sounds, who knows.)

oh, he should be condemned. Not that hard to pick Gandhi or Lincoln or Churchill, or anyone who didn't help send millions of people to death via concentration camps

“This is probably not going to get a good review, but I’m going to say Adolf Hitler,” Berger told the Grand Valley Lanthorn.

“It was obviously very sad and he had bad motives, but the way he was able to lead was second to none. How he rallied a group and a following, I want to know how he did that. Bad intentions of course, but you can’t deny he wasn’t a great leader,” he added in the interview.

Um, he "rallied a group" based on hatred of the Jews and other minorities, and a desire for world domination.
He was "able to lead" using killing, torture, fear, and appealing to the worst, basest human instincts.

You know - kinda like Trump. :p

So yeah, that's all totally applicable to coaching football.

I guess Stalin and Mao wouldn't be as much fun to dine with?

Oh dear. That doesn't sound good.

Guy's name is Berger, though...wonder if that can be considered a mitigating factor.

I'm reaching for straws here, I'm afraid.

Well shut my mouth because it's the Football board.

I wonder what his social media looked like? Cuz if he was dumb enough to get quoted in his employers newspaper as a hitler fanboy, he likely has been posting even dumber things on twitter for the last five years.

I would argue that Columbus & Hitler are sitting side by side in the Hades VIP room.

FYI, the genius resigned a bit ago

Even better - he never really apologizes for his stupidity that gave his employers no choice but to give him a flagrant foul 10.

That is friggin ridiculous

They both murdered societies of civilized people (in equal numbers if adjusted for technology) and stole everything they could for personal gain. Just because Hitler was at the top of the food chain in his political universe doesn't make Columbus' crime any less heinous. He may not have had genocidal plan in place, but the result was the same. 300,000 Taino people lived on the island when Columbus landed. He murdered and enslaved 100,000. Worked the slaves to death in the goldmines. I addition an estimated 50,000 committed suicide, refusing spanish rule. By 1550 there was only 60,000.

While I agree that you can't blame him for the pandemic spread of disease that went on to kill millions, his humble feats are right up there with his boys in the VIP club.

Columbus was a man of his times, and should thus be judged. Hitler was evil incarnate.

Murdering, enslaving, victimizing people to enrich oneself is evil in any century.

And Hitler was a man of his times as well. (Mussolini, Stalin, Hideki Tojo, Franco). He just was better at marketing himself.
