If I'm coyle I tell everyone that we are no longer answering any questions to anyone from .com reporters. Axe trying to make it look like shafer stormed out. Bailey asking shafer a question that was answered already. Then axe tweeting out tough day for coyle. Wins national championship and has to fire a coach. My god unless he has inside knowledge which I doubt why tweet something like that. What happened to journalism. I'm so sick of the negative spin on everything from that site. Not called for at all and totally unprofessional.

Axe should be called out for this.

In a town the size of Syracuse with 1 newspaper you won't see the school black-out the newspaper/.com people and those reporters. Just not realistic.

In regards to Axe, look I have said it for years on this site, the guy just isn't a knowledgeable sports person. He doesn't know sports and he tries so hard to be "that guy" who thinks he has some big insight or perspective that everyone is dying to hear. It was clear when he had his daily radio show years ago for however many hours a day, he had no clue what he was talking about. The depth of his sports knowledge is opening up the USA Today and the front page of the sports section daily. He gets a basic update/understanding of what is going on in the world of sports daily but doesn't have any in depth knowledge or can have a high level conversation in depth on a sports topic. He tries to be that down home sports guy, doing the stupid old man voice to try and show a "comedy" sense of humor side with him that is painful to listen to. That tweet yesterday isn't surprising. He lacks any journalistic integrity because he isn't a journalist! He saw something for 2 seconds on TV and because HE ISN'T A SPORTS GUY, and doesn't know how sports press conferences work or what may have happened, he literally made up a narrative with no truth at all and ran with it. Local radio and reporting has been dead in Syracuse for years. As long as someone like "The Axe-man" is in town it won't change anytime soon. Guy is an uninformed hack!

Hey, Brent.

It sounds to me that Axe was trying to generate a story where there was none.
As CTO has pointed out, the problem with internet "reporting" is that there is no editor.

Catch-22. The new coach is going to have to live within the environment that the Syracuse press has built. There's no one else.

Donnie and Dave were real pros.

The whole thing is unfortunate.

There were a million things Bailey could have asked with that last question. If you want to poke the bear, ask about the FG/2 point conversion logic (or lack thereof). But the way he phrased his Coyle question, just amateur hour.

I hope the new guy has some chops to run circles around them and tie them in knots.

Unfortunately that's not going to work out well either. You'll get those awkward Marrone bullying moments. Football needs a Mike Waters.

No - I was thinking smooth and buttery with the media - puppet strings.

Seriously? If a coach doesn't have thick enough skin for that vicious Syracuse media market, they shouldn't have goals of landing a bigger job in a big market. It's not like we're talking about the NYC media here...

if this at anyway helps get a new coach I thank them for doing that

If we think we're unique in this situation, we're all crazy. Every market has a small bunch that will get all their news from badjocks.com. In reality, our reporters are light weights compared to major media markets. Even saint doug got a taste of it in little ole' buffalo.

Cannot remember the name of the former DO writer, who joined the Syracuse.com afterwards, but he was an absolute clown. Everything he wrote was negative bashing and Marrone completely shut him off from the program.

He moved on to some place else.

Michael Cohen?

I don't need sunshine and rainbows from the sports reporter but no one, absolutely no one from syracuse.com cares about the facts of reporting or journalism. That's why they have hacks like Poliquin and Axe. The real journalists have been let go or left, Sean Kirst being the latest. It's all about driving the negative comments from the knuckle draggers that frequent the site anonymously. It makes me sad really, no one wants to pay for real and true content. So this is what we're left with. God help us all
