Earlier this season we saw great games from Justin and Benny and even from Cope that we hoped would be coming out parties.

Turned out that none of those games were "nirvana" moments, though Justin seems to be finding a nice role.

Now, we have this great game from Chris - will this one be a REAL coming out party ????

I certainly hope so, but the next couple of games will be telling for this young man. If we could find another piece up front that we could really count on every game, we suddenly become a very dangerous team.

Ironically, the one frosh who has risen from the back of the bench, who seems to be the real deal for sure, is Brown, and he didnt really have a signature coming out party game. Just keeps improving steadily throughout the season game by game.

That’s because Maliq has been productive since Day One, on a per-minute basis.

He’d get 8 mins and put up 4 & 4.

Cynics would say “he’s getting his stats against scrubs”

Those of us with eyes would say “he’s showing he can be very productive without a single play run for him”.

Eventuality, JAB gave him more minutes - which he earned.
So his #’s went up, because he was getting more minutes in which to do his thing.

All that said - I’d certainly consider his first double-double game to be his coming out party.

He finally got major minutes, and he delivered in a big way.

Or the UVA game prior, where he put up 10 & 8 - not eye popping, just really, really solid.
Like he is.

He is productive because he knows he doesnt have much to do on offense except hang around the basket. Bennie tries to do more because he can do some of those other things just not as well as he thinks he can. But then he doesnt go back to the basket hard.

Maliq plays like a power forward. Benny plays like a guard not a forward. Except his shot is consistently inconsistent and rebounding is not his top priority.
