we only have 2 games. BC and UL

UL gained 800, but they gained almost 600 vs Clemson.

from the 2nd-5 UL gained 450 yds
against us after the first 5 Min meltdown of a first quarter they gained 500 yds

we gained 420 clemson gained 500.. not a huge leap

against BC

Clemson 500 SU 530
Clem allowed 250 we allowed 300 the one blown QB td run from the stats being even

games are not played in a vacuum. The biggest issue is Clemson turns the yards into points and we dont.

if we get the NC st C lemson we can win. if we get the FSU Clemson we are in trouble. For all its worth we are the best passing team they have played and they have allowed 295, 269, 286 to the 3 teams that can actually throw even troy had 245. so we should be able to move the ball. hopefully the points will follow

Agreed.

I think we'll see them drop everyone into coverage and rush 4 most of the game - unless we can run. I wouldn't be shocked to see Dungey and Strickland run more of the mini-option they were running during the BC game to loosen up the passing game. We ran Dungey a lot vs VaTech to get the balance that really makes this offense dangerous.

I hope they don't expose Dungey any more than is absolutely necessary.

If we are faced with this situation where Dungey has to run as much or more than he did against VT, would anyone like to see Mahoney run some? Just have a bad feeling that something could happen to ED if he is put in that position against a team like Clemson.

it wouldnt shock me if the had a package ready. maybe something to use on the goal line.

Your points are well taken. We have lots of athletic ability and speed in our defensive backfield but our guys get caught out of position in man coverage way too often. Add to that our recent propensity for drawing PI calls because we try to make plays on the receiver instead of the ball. It's maddening.

On the offensive side, we are capable of being dominant but you can almost count on Watson throwing at least two balls directly to a defender at some point in the game.

I don't know any Clemson fan who is expecting a cake walk.

Not me. Want our best chance to win.

The problem with using our D stats against UL is that our D has improved immensely over the past month. I believe that awful D we showed against UL no longer exists. However, if there's an opponent left on the schedule who can make me eat those words, this one's probably it.
