Conference news updates for 8/12: Big 12 Still Playing

Those conferences haven't canceled though- they've postponed their schedule until the spring.

Here we go.

Now that the PAC 12 has made its decision the leverage of the “player unity group” will dissipate quickly.

Maybe the pac12 and B1G thought they could squash it, and buy time. Maybe the ACC, SEC, BIG12 think playing a season can lessen it.

It's not just a PAC-12 problem.

In the immediate, it is. You don't have players organizing in the SEC, Big XII and ACC. The reason they shut it down is because their movement picked up steam weeks ago.

The statement Lawrence posted, all 5 conferences, included weareunited, and a players association.

If they were truly united, it would have been shut down indefinitely. There is no steam outside of the Pac.

You're (along with Alsacs) making the assumption that they shut down due to threats of unionization.

I don't think that's true.

This has zero to do with health. You would have to explain why players were on campus for months but it's unsafe to play. That in itself leads credence to them being employees.

Acc Sec retained legal council in their letter. Just because 4 conferences feel its not the right time to demand $$$ , does not mean they don't stand with some base principles. We shall see.

The cynic in me thinks this may be accurate. (post 2)

The 20,000 student body at SU hasn't been on campus. Many of the B1G and PAC-12 campuses dwarf SU's. Also several teams like Rutgers for example had large outbreaks (28 not including staff) even without the student body at large being on campus.

Ohio State's President back in April stated that he didn't see how it would be safe to ask football players to play in empty stadiums if it was too risky for fans to be in the stands. These Presidents are making decisions not the AD or coaches.

Anyone have Micah Parson’s number to provide Dino with???
