Congrats guys | Syracusefan.com

Congrats guys

Thats why we are tied for number one in the country.
:D

59% from the field and 62% 10-16 from three :).

The basketball gods were nice enough to let you guys get it back to a 1-3 possession game 4-5 times today. :)

Please clean your droppings on the way out the door. Time to fumigate the building.

I have no idea how UCONN was within 2 with 4 minutes left with our insane shooting %. They always play good against us. Last 4 minutes I think we just ran them out of gas.

Thanks, hope you had a good time. That game was much closer than the score indicated. Hopefully JC gets back soon.

You guys hit everything. It was very impressive. Dome was rocking, fans were pretty classy too. See you in two weeks.
Uconn has the most talent of any team we played thus far. We could not shake them for 35 minutes ...they are far better than they have displayed thus far...other than Louisville, they are the team I'd least like to face in the bet

That's because they played well and made some shots unlike the past month or so.

Good luck the rest of the way. I predict you guys will be around a 7 seed in the tourney, and I will strongly consider having you upset a 2 seed in my bracket. I really see no reason why you couldn't beat a Duke or Baylor if Drummond is back healthy.

Very true. We were fortunate Drummond left the game. He was starting to dominate our bigs. We would've still won but it may have been much tighter.

Like Kellogg said during the game, the Uconn guards played great floor games today. Both Boatright and Napier were generally very good today, much better than I had seen out of them this season up to now.

Uconn was a formidable opponent today. I know that I was very nervous about the outcome and when Drummond went out I felt a sense of relief because they were beginning to be very effective getting it in down low to him and he was dominating. Hate to see anyone go down with an injury and hopefully he will recoup from the sprain quickly.

It took an outstanding game by us to come out on top today and I was encourged by 2 huge factors. 1. We did a good job on the boards for the first time in several games. 2. We actually made shots. Was Scoop awesome or what? Fab displaying a mid range touch! CJ with a double double and making is short jumpers! Dion slicing his way to the tin and playing great defense.
It may have well been the best overall game by the Cuse all season.

Agreed with zls.....super offensive day as we know going in your many weapons are tough to guard and when they shoot like that OUCH...hope you guys play like that March/April and hammer the Dukies/UNC's of the world.....hope we can upset your a**es at home although looks unlikely this year.

Don't know about that, Drummond was destroying Cuse's frontline for the 2-3 minutes before he went down. I think Fab blocking that weak ass attempt right before that lit a fire under him then he got injured and probably shouldn't have come back in. UConn may have lost if Drummond hadn't gone down but UConn would have had a shot at it, IMO.

Either way, I hate playing Cuse in the Dome. I still remember Dyson going down for the season up there. He stays healthy and Calhoun might have 4 NC's right now. Drummond's injury was a painful reminder of that.

If Drummond starts to go off in Storrs, all they have to do is throw about 10 fouls at him. He is something like a %35 free throw shooter!

Dyson got hurt at gampel, remember it clearly rautins fell into his knee and i think thabeet blocked harris 76 times that game

we would just wear you down. The game changes at the end of the half and the end of the game. Our depth really shows.

Can you miss? One shot?

No.

Aside from some last minute garbage misses you guys were hitting a pretty good clip from outside as well. Gracious in defeat, gracious in victory... hopefully we wont have to return the favor in 2 weeks.

It's surprising how much less I despise UConn when Calhoun isn't roaming the sidelines.

I agree depth did hurt UConn, especially when Blaney decides to shorten the bench to 8 players the last two games when they have been playing 9 all season. UL and Cuse were the two teams shortening the bench was just an odd decision. Depth also hurt UConn when Drummond was injured and Lamb tweaked his ankle and decided to stand in one spot on offense the last 5 minutes. I hope he was hurt (I mean as the reason) and not just being lazy or coached to stand there. However, Drummond doesn't get injured and UConn has a shot at the end, IMO.

Cuse made it's run in the first end of the half when UConn was forced to sit Drummond and Oriakhi due to fouls. UConn had Olander playing center. That was not good. Foul trouble wasn't an issue for UConn's bigs in the second half. My point is Cuse made both it's runs when Drummond wasn't in or not 100%.

Hey, Drummond is a great talent. And he is going to be trouble as long as he is on your campus. but he wasn't going to play 40 minutes. And he was also going to be wore down. At Gampel, a down to the wire game. At the Dome, right now, I disagree.

Syracuse didn't even make their run until Drummond was back in the game. I think had Drummond not gotten hurt Syracuse would have adjusted their D anyway.

Fair enough. It's an opinion. I just think he was dominating the game when he got injured. I'm not saying it would have necessarily been a last second win by anyone, just that it would have come down to foul shots by the Cuse and UConn hitting shots in the last minute or two.

I'm still thinking about that. Half way thru the second half, we are shooting 62% they are shooting 42%, rebs are about equal, our TOs are low. Stat wise, I don't understand how they were within 10 pts of us.

I think half of Thabeet's total blocks for his college career can be attributed to Paul Harris. ;)

Speaking of Rautins and knees, I remember the season he came back from knee surgery and we played at GTown. JT3 put his foreign dude in for like two possessions and the guy managed to rugby tackle Rautins out of bounds and roll up on his bad knee. That was a very nervous 24 hrs until we knew Andy was ok. The foreign dude never came back in the game. He was a hired hit man.
