OK - so maybe they didn't want to 'overshadow' Floyd Little's day on Fri nite. 
I can mostly be on board with that.

HOWEVER...

It should NOT be up to a small number of families of former players who wears what number RIGHT NOW.   
It ABSOLUTELY should not be up to Floyd Little's widow.

The COACH was always the one who decided if it was to be awarded, and to whom, and why.

Not the AD, not some totally fictional council, nothing outside of the CURRENT football team.

Was there all this handwringing and gnashing of teeth when Mandel Robinson got 44?
Do Rob Konrad and Terry Richardson and Michael Owens just not rate as 44's to get a vote??
If not, why not??   
They were 44's, just as much as the 3 HOF'ers who started the tradition.

A tradition which is now dead and gone, and going to drift further and further into history, and irrelevance.
