Cooney

Didnt shoot well with jumpers but had some huge takes to the basket.

So proud of how he's played. Hasn't forced any 3's - tonight I think he only took one and that was as the shot clock was running down. Took what they gave him and even when we were down he didn't force up any wild 3s. What a revelation. Next game, maybe he gets open for a few and knocks them down.

Gotta say, that lay-up when he went to the other side of the rim, was nice.....very nice.

I got Lydon with player of the game. Onions.

Cooney has been all heart this tournament. Amazing. Quite possibly team mvp this tournament.

He played within himself and has all tourney. It's like a light bulb went on
Wondering whether that was just a Cooney realization or JB coaching, but it's true. For Cooney, less has been more. And for the extent of the tournament, he's been so much more productive by emphasizing the skills he does exhibit consistently, namely defense, driving, and determination. More to come, I hope.--VBOF

I hope ND makes it...We all know who is the Notre Dame killer. Bree will key on Coon dog and leave somebody open.

When Lydon was shot-shy earlier in the season, I said he'd carry us some day. Certainly his play today and the block against Gonzaga show he's stepping up big time. And Cooney playing within his skills has been a significant factor as well, but let's not overlook Roberson's consistency during the tournament. He doesn't score a lot of points and doesn't have plays called for him, nevertheless, he has been the keystone of our success thus far. Remember those (losing) days when we were so horribly out-rebounded? May they be banished for the next 8 days.-VBOF

I spent the whole year lamenting his 50% shooting at the rim, but never considered that 10 drives a game would still get us 10 extra points. Again, small sample sizes. Cooney's come through big-time for us with this change to his game. Credit to coaching staff for pushing this, too.
