Corey Winfield being moved to Corner

Corey Winfield is moving to corner from wide receiver. Shafer said his jaw dropped for a few minutes when he was told, but he's excited.

Been looking closely at both Corey Cooper and Winfield, I think both are exciting talents.

He's got a much better chance of seeing the field this season at CB. Wouldn't be shocked if someone else moves there as well.

I took that comment as Shafer told Winfield and Winfield's jaw dropped.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him get a little run a little later in the season. I think it may be a good move for the future. Athletic with good size and for a CB. I like it. Plus good hands at the CB position is always nice.

With Estime, Avant and Corey Copper all very young guys at H-back it does seem he would be much more valuable at corner. Too many WR's on the roster. Makes sense.

I'd imagine there will be more moves. Cupboard is full at WR and light in the secondary. Scholarship players, we're losing Esk (likely), Desir, Jaston and Kelly at safety and Morgan and Reddish at corner. Leaves it to alot of true freshmen and sophomores next year.

I think Winfield's move has a lot to do with the play of Sean Avant. Too bad the move wasn't last year so he would of had a full years worth of reps.

Winfield has a 40"+ vert and good hips. He could become a really good corner in a year or two.

Slot is full with Estime, Avant, and Cooper, but Wifield has the rubber bands hips and explosive vertical to play the corner position. This could be one of the moves he looks back in 2 years and thanks HCSS for getting him into the NFL.

Yeah Avant pretty much fell into our laps really late as part of that 2013 class that Shafer's staff had to piece together. Probably was a qualifying question mark that got late scores or something because the kid seems really talented and he was pretty well regarded by the services too.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The coaches have a lot of talent to work with and wouldn't make that move lightly. Winfield must be showing something remarkable for them to make this move.

We need every single faceoff guy we can scrap together trust me. Goalie situation will finally be solved with Warren Hill as long as he makes it to campus.
