If you hold your nose and look at the autopsy, the O was basically continuing to get quality looks on any offensive possession that did not have a dumb turnover. -Third quarter the offense was still cooking with gas and getting clean looks with ease. Scored twice and got robbed by the Cornell back up goalie on 3 high quality looks. Not much to complain about but lack of finishing. -4th quarter the clock was moving a lot faster than it had all game. But we were still getting good looking shots for the first half of it. With the flag down we hold it and get a good look inside to Mule that he misses, but then on man up we throw it away. Defense makes a stand, but then Kirst gets the gb on the rebound of a poor shot and Cornell takes another full shot clock and scores. Faceoffs which had been leaning our way were all won by Cornell in that stretch. -Then in the last four minutes of the 4th/OT we enter chaos meltdown mode. Hiltz misses a routine pass, Mule loses it for no reason trying to iso on an island, defense fails a key clear. -Even in OT we got a quality look from English and then it was another dumb turnover that sent it the other way. 2nd OT Rhoa takes an ill advised low angle shot early in the shot clock on our first possession. 2nd try at it we get Finn Thomson open on the crease and he gets stuffed as he has been so many times this season (still our most frustrating player). All this to say the problem was not Cornell adjusting and preventing our offense from getting good looks. I don't know what that means for UNC with no March on the sideline, but it's not like we were getting nothing with the shot clock running down every time after he went to the locker room. Agree with others that having a scout on the match ups/gameplan going in should be enough.
