Justin Barron says that Johnson has become a lockdown cornerback. Very excited to see what this looks like. I do hope that Wilson has gained strength. He showed potential last year but that Florida St. game last year is still fresh in my mind. He literally could not get their receivers to the ground when he was in a one on one situation.
I see Wilson getting beat out at the second corner spot. Sure he played in the two deep last year but we have addedtalent and size to the position. Also other returners have gotten bigger and stronger. Even though Wilson added weight he is around 175. Still to light to deal with big physical receivers.

Wilson was literally tossed like a rag doll. Yeah, needs strength and added weight.

Do we know who of the key DB transfers are being tested at corner versus safety??

Wilson is a slot corner. I want to see Quan on the outside.
Right now, I think this is what is going to happen. Wilson is a really good athlete but against many ACC teams, he is just too small.

When the other team has a small fast WR (like BC has with their transfer), he might play a ton.

If the other team has a couple 6’4 220 pound types, he won’t.

He is a better fit overall in the slot. He will get abused in man on the outside against a good big WR. We play a lot of teams with use 3 WRs in their normal sets, so he could get a ton of playing time in a role like this.

Peterson was impressive against Minnesota. They aren’t a great offense and didn’t have great WRs but he is big and it looks like he is athletic too. Like Bellamy a lot too. I think Buxton, the JUCO transfer from San Diego, could also get some playing time.

Pretty sure we will play at least 4 CBs this season. This is a position where our starters have consistently gotten beaten up as the season progresses. We need to find a way to keep these players healthy. I think improving depth and playing more players is the way to go.

i tend to disagree. i think that one bad game stands out too much. I thought he stood out positively most of the time . The kid was a true freshman and for the most part was playing and doing well, especially in coverage. I think he starts or is at least the 3rd corner behind Johnson.

Yep I agree 144%

That was hard to watch, big physical receivers taking advantage of an undersized true freshman.

Glad he stuck it out here after his brief trip to the portal. He'll be a good one as he gets older and stronger.
