I'm just brainstorming here, but if TH applies for a medical redshirt and is granted a 6th year of eligibility, would moving him to another position to get him on the field be feasible, and would it help the team? Could he play tight end, or be a big slot receiver a la Ashton Broyld?

If this were to happen, which I honestly doubt it does, TE is the only position I'd consider even remotely viable.

Agreed. He's not fast enough to play in the slot.

I have always looked at the kid as TE more than a QB, and I don't mean to be harsh, he is a terrific young man who has overcome a lot. Probably makes sense to have him as a backup to Dungey more than anything.

If he wants to stay and get a start on a grad degree, I would love to have him as a backup qb. I'm sure we would need him to step up at some point- maybe running packages/3rd and short/goal line and worst case scenario we lose ED to injury, we know we would have an extremely capable replacement.

I think I would probably keep him as the second or third string Quarterback.
I'm inclined to agree with this, from a selfish standpoint. But if he wants to try to make it to the NFL, I'd have to assume he has a better shot at TE than as a backup QB.

I would question his size, though. as a 6-3, 225-pound NFL TE.

I'd peg him closer to 6'4 240, but you're still right, for him to be a TE in the NFL he'd have to be extremely athletic at that size.

i'd rather have him as a backup QB. maybe he could be their power back. he's not making the nfl at any position, spend another year learning and get into coaching

Agree will Milly. You always need a backup QB. He'd be great as a 6th year senior. From all accounts a good kid who would likely accept that role and perhaps if he has a eye on coaching, getting a head start in that direction.

I guess my mindset was that the kid probably desperately wants to get on the field his last year here after playing so little the past two years. Maybe he could be used in short-yardage Wildcat/H-back scenarios when we need a bigger body to absorb contact as opposed to risking Dungey's health.

i expect dungey to get decapitated on a buddy pass from hunt on a dreadful trickplay

He would definitely have motive if he was the 2nd string QB.

and an alibi. "have you seen me throw before? come on, that was a good throw for me"
