Has the makings of one. Rival pitt coming in for big Monday, we just trounced providence on their home court a few weeks ago, were playing our best ball of the season. Basically i concerned because if we overlook prov they could definitely beat us tonight. You know theyre going to have a little more motivation than we do tonight. We just beat them senseless 2 weeks ago so ultimately their coaching staff will create a game plan to do the opposite of what they did previously.

Obviously if we play our game tonight we will win, no problem. But this is Syracuse basketball and every year it seems games like this, vs inferior big east opponents come in to the Dome and we lay an egg. And prov is one of those teams that is good enough to pull off the upset if we dont show up.

So, we better be ready tonight!!! GO CUSE!

What losses require What players. We don't have those this year

I know a guy who posts on this board who has these feelings that are never wrong. He too says we lose. Sorry.

Hell no. Not a snowballs chance

You know it's gameday when we have one of these threads.
At least it didn't start out with, "Does anyone else have a bad feeling about tonight's game?"

When we played the Friar's, who aren't so deep (couldn't resist) in the first half they took anywhere between 25-30 seconds off the clock before attempting a shot. Amazingly enough, the shot they'd take ended up a high percentage one and not a fling. I kept thinking JB was keeping a card up his sleeve by not showing the press. I thought his rationale was that we weren't behind and let's not give them a chance to make any adjustments at halftime.

In the second half we stretched the lead thus negating the need to press and Providence was forced to shoot sooner in the clock than in the first half in order to try and catch up.

That being said, How did they score 90 points on Louisville who usually plays tough in your face defense? I missed that game and am too lazy to look it up. Did Pitino have the troops press early thus forcing the tempo and did Providence handle it with ease. If that is the case then maybe JB won't be too anxious to employ that strategy this evening should we need it.

We do have a couple of those players. They're just not expected to carry the team like last year.
You are sunshine on a cloudy day, Blue Curtain

Well, in fairness to Blue Curtain, he hasn't had anything else to bitch about this season. And it looks like the quite formidable defensive play of this team takes away his main talking point, so what do you expect.

Providence has a couple of guys who can really play and an upset in not out of the question.

When I see this supreme confidence being expressed on this board, I sometimes wonder if these are new SU fans. Surely they can't have watched all the What losses I have over the years.

The Carmello-led SU team lost to Rutgers the year they won the NC. Every game is a potential loss.

Sure, that's why we tune in.

Whenever we lose, it will be a What loss. We're #1

Pretty much our whole starting five is capable of What moments but even Scoop has been keeping those to a minimum.

I'm pretty sure you could say this about every player on every team.
They are human.
To say that we have a couple of What players is just taking a shot at the team.
We are 18 and 0.
That is zero losses.
Until this team fails to overcome their stretches of poor play I can overlook a few What decisions on the players parts.

If Fab has a good outing we win easily .. if he struggles it gets a little more dicy. I certainly would not take the 20 points or whatever the outrageous spread is.

Not really, a winless Big Ten Minnesota team went into Bloomington a couple of days ago and flat out beat IU. I don't really see any What type players on that Hoosier team either.

I have been an SU fan since the late 70s. I don't care what What losses we've had in the past. Rationally, they have no bearing on tonight's game.

Well said. Our board either thinks we are Heat or they don't watch a whole lot of college basketball. Anything can happen in conference play. Is it likely today? Maybe not but lets not pretend that Providence isn't going to try like hell. And chalking up the Pitt game as a win already? Thats just nuts considering our recent history with them.

I think the Mods should lock the board for three hours after the first game we lose. It will otherwise rival the apocolypse.
