1) on the Simmons pick 6 big Ron Thompson threw a brutal block. Wake had 2 guys chasing a big and a fast guy. Big Ron flew past the big and blew the speed guy out of existence.

2) our down field blocking. Our wr and tight end group has really improved here and this will help make decent plays big gains. The one specifically that comes to kind is Ish blocking 30 yards down field on Morris' big gain but that was far from the only one.

Love having a team that buys in, is willing to do the dirty work, and can revel in their team mates accomplishments vs craving personal adulation.

The fact that we are not talking about STs is notable in and of itself!
We were perfect in FGs and we didn't give up any big plays.

Good points...I have been really happy with this aspect of the team particularly since the number one thing about Ashton Broyld, in my opinion, was his downfield blocking out of whatever position he was playing. Glad the others have more than picked up the slack.

Also, in case they did not show it, while Dungey was warming up to start the second half, John Raymon walked up to him, put his hand on his helmet and engaged him for about 20-30 seconds. Clearly he was encouraging Dungey who responded by slapping John on the helmet...great to see.

Really agree on the WR blocking. Ish did a really nice job on several runs. Very noticeable in this game.

Yeah, I was going to bring this up myself. Noticeable improvement so far in terms of ST play, such an important aspect of the game. Steven Gregory must be doing a good job.

I saw Thompson's block coming. I thought he was going to level both guys but it was enough to get in the way fo the first and take out the other. Great play by a great player.

Downfield blocking by WR's is the difference between a good play and a big play.

I really enjoyed the take-out block by Ron T on the Wake wide receiver that thought he had a chance of catching Simmons. I re-played it on the DVR several times. At first I thought it had to be an Orange smaller-faster player due to the speed with which Ron closed the gap. I was surprised to see the Wake player get right up after that hi-speed collision!

Someone on the board predicted that Simmons would have a strong game, I don't recall. Simmons was strong!

He looks like an NFL end with that speed.

Thank you Steve Gregory!

Think that was me youre referring to and my "the world is going to be introduced to donnie simmons" comment.

2 more things that didnt show up in the box score:

3. the running back was WIDE OPEN on the reverse pass. And the WR even stared him down. NO IDEA why he didnt throw to back to RB on the wheel route, but he will certainly get an earful watching film.

4. Biggest play of the day... Dungey got destroyed on a 2nd down play. on 3rd and long, he hung tough and hit the TE for a big 1st down (possibly the 1st of the day). I believe the next play after that was the TD to Ishmeal.

That Is the danger of having someone other than a qb throwing the ball. No field vision. Agreed the rb wide open is the best throw there BUT if Avant gets the ball deep enoung Brisley was past the secondary AND it was pass interference. Refs didn't have the balls to make a PA call twice in a row. Clawson flipping his ... the play prior convinced them not to call it.

I sat behind the WF bench. Clawson didn't stop whining the entire game. During TV timeouts he spent the entire time on the field working the refs. What a Richard.

On the PA call I thought he was going to cry but that's on the coaches. His DB was in perfect position yet still felt inclined to throw the arm bar and grab a hand full of jersey. If he's not grabbing the jersey I don't think that gets called. Watching on tv it looked like clean coverage but the replay showed what the back judge saw.
