I had an opportunity to chat with my NBA scout friend just before tonight's game.
He had flown to Atlanta for the GT game specifically to scout Chris, as the team he scout's for will most likely get a lottery pick.
His take on Chris was surprising, he said that some of Chris's move and athleticism reminded him of Dr. J, though personally I don't really see that analogy. He said he had issues with Chris's finishing skills, and said no ifs ands or buts that he needed at least one more year in college. However, he did say that if Chris came out (pre-injury, of course) that he felt somebody would take him towards the end of the first round on potential alone.
It is cruel irony that Chris got hurt in tonight's game. Can only wish the young man well and the best and somehow hope his injury isn't season ending.
We also talked about Rak. I was surprised, but he said he wasn't overly impressed with Rak's quickness. He lauded Rak's improvement and felt he could get drafted second half of second round.
We did not discuss any other Cuse players.
He did say that he thought there were about five big talents in this years draft - Okafur, Mudiay, Johnson, Towns, and Winslow amongst the palyers he had seen. Okafur being far and away the best.
