Since it is questionable that SU will get good at football in my lifetime I am thinking of cryogenic suspension.
I'll check on a group rate.
went on a nostalgia tour of the quad, band, ED statue pregame instead of doing the regular tailgate thing. And it was great and a lot of fun up there, nice to see some tradition that was kept with the proceedings in addition to some new ones.
Old would be the band on the steps of Hendricks and parading around the quad which was really great to see and well done. New was the ED statue and a whole bunch of fans walking in the dome touching the statue on the way in (emulating what apparently the team does now).
It was all good and a good experience and my head couldn't help but go back to the early days of the dome and old days of Archbold. And thinking back about in those days how we all hoped to get good one day with some investment and commitment and we did just that.
Today I felt like a parent who tried to raise their kid the right way, emphasize school, encourage sports with hopes that one day he or she could make it at the highest level, only to ultimately find that the reality was that it just wasnt meant to be.
I felt like that today with the program. The landscape of college football has changed so much, the paradigm changed forever that in my head unless what you post can come to reality, it just isn't ever going to happen up here again. Happening meaning 10+ win seasons. Think we can be competitive again (and in point of fact we're essentially there this year with any sort of productive O), but hate to say it as others have recently done but we need to lower the bar for what the reasonable expectations are and can be.
